They help us in different aspects of life, whenever we are in trouble or whatever we do. Friend is the one we can freely share opinion, thought, emotion and confidence. One feels better, trustful and comfortable when having a suitable friend. There are a large number of things friends can do together such as: traveling to new lands, going shopping in addition to sharing hobbies. This does not mean that it is always easy to make and keep friends; it just means that we share the goal of having strong relationships.

"Family" includes your siblings and parents, as well as relatives who you may not interact with every day, such as your cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and stepparents.

These are probably the people you are closest to and with whom you spend the most time. Having healthy relationships with your family members is both important and difficult.

Families in the 21st century come in all shapes and sizes: traditional, single parent, blended (more than one family together in the same house], and gay and lesbian parents -just to name a few. No matter the "type" of family you have, there are going to be highs and lows - good times and bad. Many times, however, families become blocked in their relationships by hurt, anger, mistrust, and confusion. These are natural and normal, and few families do not have at least a few experiences with them. The worst time for most families, is during a divorce. By making a few simple changes in the way we look at the world and deal with other people, it is possible to create happier, more stable relationships. Families need to be units of mutual caring and support; they can be sources of lifelong strength for all individuals.

Different relationships  affect teenagers in various ways. Friends impact teenagers almost the same amount as their parents. Teenagers go to their friends for help or to ask questions that they could not ask their parents about. Most of the time their friends give them good advice. In most cases they tell their friends how to dress and act when being around certain people. Love relationships just make it even harder for a teenager to get a good education. Some start to fail in school because they are hanging out with their boyfriend or girlfriend instead of doing their work. Parents have a big influence on teenagers because their children look up to them and the majority of them grow up to act and do things just like their parents did with them. Children who have experienced a family break-up may have lower achievements than children brought up in an intact family. As previously stated, teenagers are affected by many relationships which involve their friends, family, and their love relationships. The relationships affect them so much that most teenagers change their ideas about how they should live their lives in a different way and to change their future goals. They should be influenced to help themselves or to help others.

Question: Relationships can_______.

Ahelp others to form relationships

B. help teenagers to decide the future goals in love relationships

Cinfluence teenagers in many aspects of their lives

D. help teenagers to follow their future goals with their friends and family

THE FAMILY

Statesmen define a family as “a group of individuals having a common dwelling and related by blood, adoption or marriage, (8)             includes common-law relationships”. Most people are born into one of these groups and will live their lives as a family in such a group.

Although the definition of a family may not change, (9)          relationship of people to each other within the family group changes as society changes. More and more wives are taking paying jobs, and, as a result, the roles of husband, wife and children are changing. Today, men expect to work for pay for about 40 years of their lives, and, in today’s marriages (10)         which both spouses have paying jobs, women can expect to work for about 30 to 35 years of their lives. This means that men must leam to do their share of family tasks such as caring for the children and daily (11)         chores. Children, too, especially adolescents, have to (12)        with the members of their family in sharing household tasks.

The widespread acceptance of contraception has meant that having children is as matter of choice, not an automatic result of marriage. Marriage itself has become a choice. As alternatives such as common- law relationships and single-parent families have become socially acceptable, women will become more independent.

Tạm dịch: Although the definition of a family may not change,         relationship of people to each other within the family group changes as society changes: Mặc dù định nghĩa của một gia đình có thể không thay đổi,             mối quan hệ giữa người với nhau trong nhóm gia đình sẽ thay đổi khi xã hội thay đổi.

Vì mối quan hệ này đã được xác định rõ ràng (mối quan hệ giữa con người với con người), nên ta chọn D, dùng mạo từ “the”.

FOR REVIEW

Các danh từ có “of” ngay sau đó thường đứng sau “the”. do là khi kết hợp với “of”, danh từ đó đã được xác định r và do đó ta dùng mạo từ “the”.

Ex: the man of the family, the climate of this city.
