“Today is your first day of school and I want you to look handsome,’ my mom said as she forced a collared shirt over my head.

“I don’t want to wear the blue one. I like the red one. It is more comfortable,” I said as I tried to grab my favorite shirt.

“The red one is old and has stains. It is the first day of school, so you have to wear a new shirt.”

I hated the way the shirt looked, but she would not be defeated. I didn’t like the first day of school because everyone expected you to be dressed up. All I wanted to do was wear my normal clothes.

“Here is your lunch box. I packed you all healthy foods — a sandwich, juice, and two apples. You can share one of the apples if you want, but I don’t want you to eat sweets. Don’t try and trade with the other kids. I have already told your teachers to watch out, so don’t even try,” she said.

“Defeated again,” I thought to myself. I hated never having sweet things in my lunch box, but my mom never packed them.

When I got to school, my best friend was waiting for me outside the playground. There was a soccer game being started and we hurried to join. We only got to play ten minutes before the bell rang but it was awesome. I scored three goals.

Then I looked down at my shirt. It was tom apart. I had ripped part of it and it was covered in dirt.

“My mom is going to kill me!” I said to my friend. “She told me I had to look neat for my first day of class.”

“It’s okay. The soccer coach was watching you play and he is definitely going to ask you to try out for the team now. Just tell your mom you had to,” my friend said, smiling.

He was right. My mom was mad when she picked me up but she was excited that I got picked for the team. I think that it was a pretty good first day.

A Texas middle school is under fire after students say they have been banned from speaking Spanish in class. The students say their principal announced the rule last month over the intercom. Inside the walls of Hemptead Middle School, a language controversy is brewing. “There’s one teacher that said, „If you speak Spanish in my class, I’m gonna write you up,” 8th grader Tiffani Resurez says. Four students say their principal’s announcement – banning them from speaking Spanish in class – has given teachers and fellow students a hall pass to discriminate. “She was like, „No speaking Spanish.’ She told me that. I was like, „That’s my first language.’ She said, „Well, you can get out,” fellow classmate Yedhany Gallegos says. A letter sent home by the superintendent says, “Neither the district nor any campus has any policy prohibiting the speaking of Spanish.” The four students feel that the statement from the superintendent has not been made entirely clear that their school. “People don’t want to speak it anymore and don’t want to get caught speaking it because they’re going to get into trouble,” 6th grader Kiara Lozano says. Parents, like Cynthia Zamora, believe the school is not getting to the root of the problem. She wants to know why the “No Spanish” announcement was ever made in the first place. “I was very surprised that she would even go to such lengths,” Zamora says. Many students at the school grew up speaking Spanish at home, and they say it often comes as second nature when they’re talking to each other at school. “I’m not scared. I’m gonna keep speaking my language. That’s my first language, and I’m gonna keep doing it,” Lozano said. The principal has been placed on paid administrative leave while the district investigates. A spokewoman for Hempstead Independent School District has released a statement saying, in part, “The district is committed to efficiently and effectively resolving this matter with as little disruption to our students and their learning environment as possible.”

If you ask me how I would write my passage, I would do it but... your teacher will think that you copied it from someone else. So... take your pick.

Hi, everyone! My name is Linh. I from Quang Bing province. I'm currently in sixth grade. By my school is a beautiful and clear blue sea. It's so clear that you can even see your toes while you're in it. My school is surrounded by a lot of big and tall green trees. These trees cast a shadow all over my schoolyard, which cools it down a lot during hot sunny days.  My school only has two floors, so it's quite small when compared to other schools. Every day I leave my house at 7 a.m. and walk to school. My house isn't very far from my school so the walk isn't too tiring. I have to wear a nice uniform on Mondays because we have to salute the flag and sing the Vietnamese anthem song. Out of all of my teachers, Ms. Hoa is my favorite. She's my English teacher and she's very nice. She encourages me to only use English whenever I talk to her and my classmates. Because of her teaching style, I fall in love with English day by day.

I remember that when I was in 5th grade, my class was good at studying, reacted aggressively in all activities of the school so it was very popular with teachers and friends. In grade 5, the exam that we are most interested in is the excellent student exam. I have chosen to send gold to send the task of taking good students. I have to say I was proud and proud to do so. And I know that besides me, there is no one qualified to take this exam. At that time, I was a smug little girl, always thought I was good and despise the people around. Ms. Thu enthusiastically study for me, I also try my best to study under the guidance of her.

Two days before the exam I allowed myself to rest for the day with the most comfortable spirit. I am very confident in what I have learned. On the day of the competition everyone happy to wish me success, won high. I completed the excellent essay for Literature, but Mathematics was a terrible failure. The best thing I can do is not to do it, because I volunteered to ignore it because I thought it was too simple to put on a good student exam. I lost my spirits from that moment, suddenly all the knowledge in my head flew away, I can not remember anything anymore. Even if I try my best, I can not regain my composure. And then I knew that I would not get any awards in this competition. Every wish, expectation of everyone or myself, all the smoke.

I step out of the examination room with a somber face, I do not want to meet anyone, just want to hide all the most is Ms. Thu who dedicatedly told me. I still remember as she wrote: "Whatever form of paper, whether hard or easy you must also scrutinize, do not subject yourself to any offline," she repeats it over and over again. many times. However, just because of the subjectivity, just because of arrogance, self-thinking good giang has made every hope of her break. I know how to face her, tell her how disappointing results this time.

The next day I always tried to avoid her, I was afraid to face, to explain to her, I was afraid to look her sad eyes. But I could not avoid it, that day, when she finished school she called me back to class. It was a talk that I would never forget the words she said later, the words she taught:

- Yesterday, she received the results of the excellent student exam, the subject children do very well by 9 points, but Math is too bad. I know your exam this time is not good since you left the examination room. But can you tell me why, math is so bad? She knows how good she is, she believes she can do well. So that…

"Your child, your child did not review you part ... I ... I ... really sorry for you. I am very angry with myself. Angry because of subjective self, has made her and everyone disappointed, ...

I sobbed, sorry for you, to say that my heart felt so much lighter. Listening to my words, she patted her shoulders lightly, hugging me to say,

- Keep your daughter quiet. Every one of us has been wrong, everybody has stumbled. The most important thing is self-perception and modification. I hope this will be a lesson that you will remember forever, so that whatever you do, whether large or small, you need to be careful, careful not to be subjective. Because just a minute of subjective, the consequences will not be unexpected.

I listened attentively as I swallowed her words. That was the first time I realized that just because a minute of negligence, your subjectivity affects so many people. It has happened for a long time but it will be a lesson for me: in anything that is not subjective, careful, meticulous, effort, try not stop.
