Nguyên Hồng- một nhà văn được đặt biệt danh là : Nhà văn của phụ nữ và trẻ em . Bởi ông hay viết về phụ nữ và trẻ em vì ông có một nỗi đồng cảm sâu sắc với họ trong thời phong kiến xưa . Ông đồng cảm với những phong tục lạc hậu mà nghiêm khắc mà người phụ nữ ngày xưa phải gánh chịu , Ông còn đồng cảm với tâm hồn trong sáng , trẻ thơ của thiếu nhi. Với sự đồng cảm đó đã là động lực để ông viết lên văn bản " Tròn Lòng Mẹ" trong tập những ngày thơ ấu.
Hồng là một cậu bé được sinh ra giữ một gia đình không chút tình thương , cha cậu chỉ vùi mình vào bia , rượu mà tiêu tán hết tài sản gia đình , tội thay cho người mẹ phải một mình gánh vác để nuôi cả gia đình. Vì nghiện ngập rồi ba bé hồng cũng mất , mẹ bé Hồng không chịu được sự hà khách của gia đình họ nội nên đã bỏ xứ mà đi làm việc để lại bé hồng sống chung với người cô cay độc lúc nào cũng muốn khuyết sâu hố ngăn cách giữa hai mẹ con. Nhiều lần cô bé Hồng kể câu chuyện có bà con họ nội đã thấy mẹ bé hồng cho con bú người họ hàng xa lại gần thì mẹ bé hồng lại chạy đi , đó toàn là lời bịa đặt những đã ghim vào trong trái tim cậu hàng ngàn nhát dao . Lúc nào người cô cũng cố gắng để sỉ nhục mẹ của cậu , để bé Hồng đau đớn đến tận cùng . Mỗi khi bé hồng nghẹn ngào người cô lại cười vẻ như khoái chí đúng là một người cô độc địa , xấu xa . Dù có nói đi nói lại hàng ngàn lần thì bé Hồng vẫn hết mực yêu mẹ cậu , cậu có một niềm tin dai dẳng về người mự hiền hậu của câu.
Một lần khác bé hồng đi học cậu thấy một người ngồi trên xe với chiếc nón là giống mẹ , linh cảm của cậu kêu lên tận sâu trong trái tim nhỏ bé đó là mẹ của cậu . Bé hồng chạy nhanh lại chiếc xe vừa đi vừa suy nghĩ , cậu lo sợ , bối rối nếu đó không phải là mẹ thì mình sẽ là trò cười trong lũ bạn . Tác giả còn viết rằng nó chẳng khác khác gì với " Ảo ảnh của một vùng nước trong suốt chảy dưới bóng râm đã hiện ra trước mắt gần rạn nứt của người bộ hành ngã gục giữa sa mạc" tức là khi những người bộ lạc đi qua sa mạc họ sẽ thấy những ảo ảnh nhưng tường cách ảo ảnh thường là thứ họ đang muốn nhất , người bộ hành nghĩ ra cảnh dòng nước với bóng râm bởi tiết trời nóng như lửa đốt đã khiến họ nghĩ như thế . Cũng như bé hồng trải qua bao nhiêu chuyện , bao nhiêu khổ cực điều cậu muốn nhất đó chính là gặp lại người mẹ thân yêu của mình , nên hình ảnh người mẹ cứ thoát ẩn , thoát hiện trong tâm trí cậu để rồi trực giác phải mách bảo.Tình yêu thương mẹ của bé hồng đã vượt qua mọi thứ với niềm hi vọng nhỏ nhoi gặp được mẹ.
Ngồi trên xe bé Hồng Hồng òa lên khóc không phải vì những khổ cực , cay đắng mà vì niềm vui hân hoan gặp được người mẹ của mình . Cảm sức dân trào đến vỡ òa , bé Hồng nhìn lại hình dáng mẹ mình , nhớ lại kỉ niệm và chỉ ước gì mình mãi là con nít để có thể ở bên mẹ suốt đời
Qua tác phẩm " Trong lòng mẹ " Nguyên Hồng Chắc hẳn chúng ta đã hiểu thêm về sức mạnh thiên liên của tình mẫu tử sâu nặng và chúng ta lại có một nhận định rằng tình mẫu tử theo ta suốt cuộc đời , không gì có thể chia cắt tình mẫu tử .
