2/ Marie Curie was a famous Polish scientist. She was born in 1867. Her father and mother were both teachers. Marie herself proved to be a very bright child and did very well at school. Unfortunately, at that time women were not allowed to go to university. She tried her best to find a way to study abroad. Maris did very well at Sorbonne University in Paris and she gained a degree in Maths. In the same year, she met Pierre Curie and married him in 1895. Then they had a daughter called Irene.
