- Động từ (v) có 1 âm tiết nếu kết thúc là 1 phụ âm mà đứng trước đó là nguyên âm thì gấp đôi phụ âm cuối và thêm ed.
Trong TH của chữ stop, p là phụ âm cuối, trước p là một nguyên âm (o), nên khi thêm ed cần gấp đôi phụ âm cuối là p.
