Van Mieu (The Temple of Literature) was constructed in 1070 during Ly Thanh Tong's dynasty. Its original purpose was to honor Confucius. In 1076, the first university of Vietnam called Quoc Tu Giam (The Imperial Academy), was established within this temple by Emperor Ly Nhan Tong. That's the reason why the complex has the name of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam up to now. Initially, Quoc Tu Giam was the school for princes and children of royal families and then expanded in the following year to admit top students from around the country.

“The very first stop-over of any foreign tourist in Hanoi is always Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, which reveals the Hanoi’s spirit of study in the past!

Situated at the south of Thang Long citadel, it is on top of hisorical and beautiful sightseeing of gthe beautiful capital of Vietnam.

In 1076, Vietnam’s first university. The Quoc Tu Giam (or National University), was established within this temple to educate Vietnam’s mandarin class.

The Temple of Literature is acknowledged as an ancient historical-cultura heritage which gives tourists deeper understanding about Hanoi’s culture and tradition.

When tourists come to this place, they might see many Vietnamese students visiting the places as a ritual for good luck before they enter an important exam such as the entrace exam into colleges.”

I am very happy when receiving your letter. If I have a chance and enough money, I will visit Hawaii too. Tet in Vietnam is not as exciting as your trip to Hawaii but it has its own distinctive flavor. Let me tell you about it.
Tet is often held between late January and early February. Tet holiday begins with the first day of January in the Lunar Year. Normally, it lasts for 5 days.
Vietnamese people usually spend nearly two weeks preparing for this event. One week before Tet, all members in families join in cleaning and decorating their houses with many colorful lines of lights on Peach blossom trees. Three days before Tet, we make Chung cakes. Besides Chung cakes, we also prepare pickled onion, candied fruits and seeds to serve the whole Tet holiday. Specifically, we buy many red envelopes to keep lucky money.
There are many activities during Tet holiday. On New Year’s Eve, almost everyone goes out to see fireworks and remembers all the happy moments. On the first day of New Year, we usually go to pagoda first to pray for good things for the coming new year. After that, we have a good meal and then visit our relatives to give them best wishes of happiness, health and success. Adults give children lucky money to wish them good health and successful study.
In my opinion, Tet is the most enjoyable holiday in Vietnam with valuable custom and many traditional activities. If you have chance to visit Vietnam on Tet, I am sure that you will like this holiday.

When I come home, every day after school, I immediately start doing my homework. Doing so tells myself that I can just get it done. Setting it aside for the night makes me feel accomplished. In the morning, before class, or during study hall, I check my answers. I either ask my friends or teachers if I did this formula right. Usually if I make a mistake, they will help me walk through it. I never wait until the last minute to study my study guides, and I prefer to have everything finished as quick as possible. Some days I study with my friends. This makes it easier to point out mistakes. It's also more fun!

My eating habit is not very special. In the morning, after waking up, I have breakfast. My breakfast is made by my mom and is usually cereal or toast with jam or omelette. At about 10 am, I have my morning tea at school. When it is 12 pm, I have lunch in the canteen with my friends. At school, I can either choose to eat Asian food or International food. Both of them are delicious. I come home at 4 pm and have my snack which is usually instant noodles or crisps. When my mom comes home, she cooks dinner and at 7 pm, my whole family eat dinner together while watching the news.

Nowaday, traffic problem is the biggest problem that many people care about. In VN, I think the city where have the worst traffic is Ha noi.
The first problem is the traffic jam here. Why? In the rush hours of the day, there're too many people using the road. Last year, in 2013, many bridges was built so it happen less but in order to stop this, a kind of small car should be invented, people should go to works by buses instead of going by motorbikes...
The second one, as you know, the roads in VN is not as big and clean as the roads in the big countries. They're narrow, bumpy and some dirty so it’s really hard for the road users to drive safely. I think we should raise money to make the road in VN better and better.
But everyone knows that Vietnamese people are not respect and don’t follow the traffic rules. That’s the biggest reason for everything. They wear the helmet that not strong enough to keep they safe if the accident may happen, they ride too fast on the small roads… The traffic will never can be improve if they keep doing this.
At the end, I hope the traffic in VN will improve more.
