So, what do you all want to do when you leave school? Aisha, what do you think?

My mum and dad want me to do a degree in engineering. But I know I won’t get good enough marks in my exams. Also, I feel I need to choose a career that I’ll enjoy, like a surfing instructor, for example.

That’s an interesting idea, Aisha! Would you need to train to do that?

Well, you must be a really strong swimmer as you’ll have to spend a long time in the water. I’ve been swimmingfor years now, so I don’t have to worry about that. But you mustn’t think you can do it without training. You have to do a course that teaches you all the emergency procedures. You mustn’t surf if you don’t know the procedures. It’s a dangerous sport!

What about you, Mia?

MI Erm, I’m not sure what I want to do, to be honest. My parents and teachers are putting a lot of pressure on meto decide. I want to do something that helps others. My friends say I should become a nurse because I like looking after people. I want to do something more exciting, like ... well, train to be a paramedic helicopter pilot. But I must get really good marks, and I need to save a lot of money or geta scholarship before I can apply for a course. I really want to go to university, but university courses are sometimes very expensive.

Sounds like a good idea ... What about you, Max?

MA Mum says I should become a professional sleeper so that I don’t need to get up early in the morning! No, really. Universities and research centres actually pay peopleto sleep while they do tests on them! But anyway, I’m really interested in computers and I saw an advert for an apprenticeship in computing. I think being a video game tester would suit me – I just love playing video games, so why not get paid for doing it? I’ve got until March to apply for the apprenticeship, so I don’t have to make a decision right now.

Hmm, I see. Thanks, Max.

A Bố mẹ tôi muốn tôi lấy bằng kỹ sư.

I Bạn thì sao, Mia?

I Ừm, tôi hiểu rồi. Cảm ơn, Max.

Read the passage below and decide whether the statements are TRUE or FALSE?

Volunteering is a way to gain a lot of skills that can be transferred into a workplace. These skills include: confidence, communication, responsibility, teamwork and innovation. Becoming a volunteer will not only provide you with experience which is great for personal gain, but it will also be a good addition to your CV as it will help you to stand out, as it has allowed you to network and meet new people and more opportunities. Most importantly, from the process of volunteering, young people will gain a sense of personal satisfaction gained by assisting another person which will enhance their social awareness.

By becoming a volunteer in your community you can make a change by letting your voice be heard within society, allowing you to express your thoughts and opinions on certain issues that have occurred that you have previously not been given a say in. This could inspire more events or services that could gradually assist more people.

Volunteers also have an enormous impact on the health and well-being of communities worldwide, which allows society to thrive due to the assistance of young volunteers. From volunteering the community will also gain a generation of young people who care about where they live and are willing to make a commitment to improve society.

Question:

Many people who do not know about computers think of them as machines that children play with. They worry that children do not learn from experience but just from pressing a button and that is not good for them .They think that children are growing up not nowing about the real world.

But people who understand more about computers see that they can be very good for children.A computer can help them learn about the real workd more quickly,to learn what they want,to learn and to think for themselves. And for the future, don't we need people who can think clearly, who know how to get information quickly and use it well. What do you think

Read and listen to the fact sheet again. Answer the questions.

1. What is true about the amount of water on Earth?

2. Why does water vapour condense?

3. What happens to a glass of water on a hot day?

4. Name two forms of precipitation. Do you know any more?

5. What are the three states that water can be in?

                                        THE WATER CYCLE

Now here is a challenge for you. Go and get a glass of water and take a look at it. Can you guess how old it is? Well, your water perhaps fell from a cloud just a couple of weeks ago, but it has been around for the same length of time as planet Earth! That means that your glass of water was around when the first creatures swam in the sea and when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. But how is this possible?

The fact is that the quantity of water on the Earth remains the same over time and it constantly goes through the water cycle. In the cycle, there is continuous movement of water on, above and below the surface of the Earth. Firstly, the sun heats the water in the rivers, seas and oceans, and it evaporates into the air. Plants and trees lose water, too, and this also goes up into the air. The water vapour then cools and condenses into small drops which form clouds. You can see how condensation happens if you look again at your glass of water on a hot day. After a short time, water from the air condenses onto the cold glass. Back to the sky, though, and the next step is that the clouds gradually get heavier and heavier until they can’t hold the water any more, and it falls to Earth as rain, sleet or snow.

Water can change state from liquid to vapour to solid during the cycle, but any form of water that falls from the clouds is called precipitation. When on Earth, some of the water runs into rivers, lakes and streams and becomes surface water. Some enters the ground and forms underground rivers or lakes before eventually flowing back to the seas and oceans. The cycle is complete.

1. The amount of water on Earth doesn’t change over time.

2. Water vapour condenses when it cools.

3. After a short time, water from the air condenses onto the cold glass.

4. Name two forms of precipitation: rain, snow. I know some other types of precipitates which are: hail, ice crystal and drizzle.

5. The three states that water can be in are: solid (ice), liquid (water), gas (steam / vapour).
