The Vietnamese people celebrate the New Year ( Tet) on the first three days of January according to the Lunar calendar.To prepare for Tet,these days,they often paint their houses.They buy a lot of fresh fruit,flowers and make many delicious dishes.They make sticky rice cakes because they are their traditional cakes.People who work a long distance away try to get home on these days.On the first day of Tet,people often offer these good fruit and food to their ancestors and after that the whole families enjoy the food.They also visit pagodas,temples,their relatives and friends.Children are very happy to get lucky money from the adults.There are a lot of traditional games and contests at Tet such as rice-cooking, fire-making, water-fetching, buffalo-fighting, ect.They are really interesting. Cristoforo Colombo (tiếng Tây Ban Nha: Cristóbal Colón; khoảng 1451 – 20 tháng 5, 1506) là một nhà hàng hảingười nước Cộng hòa Genova[1] và một đô đốc của các vị Quân chủ Công giáo Tây Ban Nha, mà những chuyến vượt Đại Tây Dương của ông đã mở ra những cuộc thám hiểm Châu Mỹ cũng như quá trình thực dân hoá của Châu Âu. Ông thường được coi là một người dân Genova, nguồn gốc xuất thân là người Do Thái di cư như bao người khác ở thế kỷ 15 - 16.
Lịch sử coi chuyến đi đầu tiên năm 1492 của ông có tầm quan trọng lớn, dù thực tế ông không đặt chân tới lục địacho tới tận chuyến thám hiểm thứ ba năm 1498.[2] Tương tự, ông không phải là nhà thám hiểm đầu tiên của châu Âu tới châu Mỹ, bởi vì đã có những ghi chép về tiếp xúc xuyên Đại Tây Dương của châu Âu trước năm 1492. Có rất nhiều bằng chứng về việc người Na-uy thời trung cổ đã đặt chân đến và thiết lập nên các thuộc địa ở châu Mỹ.[3]Tuy nhiên, chuyến đi của Colombo diễn ra trong thời điểm chủ nghĩa đế quốc quốc gia và sự cạnh tranh kinh tế giữacác nước đang phát triển tìm cách kiếm của cải từ việc thành lập những con đường thương mại và thuộc địa đang nổi lên. Vì thế, giai đoạn trước năm 1492 được coi là giai đoạn Tiền Colombo, và thời gian diễn ra sự kiện này (Ngày Colombo) thường được kỷ niệm tại toàn thể châu Mỹ, Tây Ban Nha và Ý.
