Sport is an Important Part of Life

Here I shall persuade you that sport is an important part of life and one that would severely damage our country if it were removed. I explain how competition is important because of the many functions it serves within our country and our community.

Sport offers competition without violence

This is true for most sports, although there are a few sports where violence is expected such as hockey. Otherwise sport is about matching physical fitness and wit with other participants. That is one of the great things about sport and is why it is an important part of life and our society.

Sport can bring people together

It brings together teams of people who would not have usually been seen together. This includes people in teams and includes people who go to watch sports. Teams tend to have supporters that are there together as a big group supporting what they love. Sport is able to bring people together which is why it is important within our lives.

Sport makes people feel as if they belong

Some people may be socially awkward and have no friends, but if they have a little sporting ability then they will be made welcome in sports. Even if they have no friends they will not be picked last in a team, they will be made to feel like part of the group.

Sport encourages good health

It is a great motivator and has people going out and taking exercise. It is something that even makes spectators want to get into shape. It is quite common for more people to join gyms and start taking more exercise when big sporting events exist.

Sport has been around as long as homo-sapians have

All types of sport are important to us because they have been around since humans first started to walk upright. They are a deep part of our competitive and playful base instincts. It is no coincidence that infant animals play with each other and compete. It is because such behavior is genetically programmed into them. The same is true of humans and we may enjoy such activities because we have sports.

Conclusion

Sports are a good thing because they help to stop violence and help people come together in harmony. Sports help us to release our competitive urges and help us get more exercise. Sport is a great motivator for people to get into shape and is also a business that generates millions for our country. Sport provides a lot of jobs for people and the elements within sport such as competition, exercise and working as a team have been around for a long time. Sport embodies the ideas of friendly competition and may work on a very healthy team basis. Joining a group so that the group may complete a task or a goal is a very good thing for humans as humans are pack animals. It helps to build interpersonal bonds and often has elements of wish fulfillment within, not to mention elements of camaraderie.

Hey guys, my name is Carolina Trương, to day I'll tell you about my favorite topic "Cycling is a good habit".

As you know, cycling is the greenest form of transportation out there. It is quiet and it is, above all, cheap. You do not need to buy expensive equipment or clothing. Experts calculate that the material and energy used to manufacture a bike are about 5% compared to those needed to make a car. In addition, you are not polluting the atmosphere. Cycling will give you healthier skin. One of the great benefits is that once you start exercising, you are getting a better supply of oxygen to all the major organs, and that includes your skin. Your skin cells will be revitalized and your own supply of collagen will be enhanced. This means that you will be better able to protect against UV radiation, provided you do not forget your sun block.

Finally, cycling have you save money.

Before reading my topic, cycling right now to get more benefits !

I was born in a peaceful village where the influence of the city is not much. It is a small village with a population of about two thousand people. It is a very good place for relaxation indeed. In my village, people live very close to each another. The people are very simple in thought and behavior. Therefore they are friendly and helpful . So, the crimes of the city are almost unknown in my village. The people work together and live in peace. I love them. My village is surrounded by paddy-fields and a river. All these add great beauty and variety to my village scene. Although I do not like growing rice, but I really like the fields. It makes me have a good mood, a peace mood and a relaxed mood. Now I am living in Hanoi capital. I want to come back my hometown very much. Living among such friendly and simple people, in such a quiet village, is indeed a real pleasure.

Life in the city is full of activity. Early in the morning hundreds of people rush out of their homes in the manner ants do when their nest is broken. Soon the streets are full of traffic. Shops and offices open, students flock to their schools and the day's work begins. The city now throb with activity, and it is full of noise. Hundreds of sight-seers, tourists and others visit many places of interest in the city while businessmen from various parts of the world arrive to transact business. Then towards evening, the offices and day schools begin to close. Many of the shops too close. There is now a rush for buses and other means of transport. Everyone seems to be in a hurry to reach home. As a result of this rush, many accidents occur. The city could, therefore, be described as a place of ceaseless activity. Life in the city is full of activity. Early in the morning hundreds of people rush out of their homes in the manner ants do when their nest is broken. Soon the streets are full of traffic. Shops and offices open, students flock to their schools and the day’s work begins.

One who has not been to the city before finds it hard to move about at this time. Soon, however, there is almost no activity in several parts of the city. These parts are usually the business centres. With the coming of night, another kind of actịvity begins. The streets are now full of colorful lights. The air is cooler and life becomes more leisurely. People now seek entertainment. Many visit the cinemas, parks and clubs, while others remain indoors to watch television or listen to the radio. Some visit friends and relatives and some spend their time reading books and magazines. Those who are interested in politics discuss the latest political developments. At the same time, hundreds of crimes are committed. Thieves and robbers who wait for the coming of night become active, and misfortune descends upon many. For the greed of a few, many are killed, and some live in constant fear. To bring criminals to justice, the officers of the law are always on the move.

Workers and others who seek advancement in their careers attend educational institutions which are open till late in the night. Hundreds of them sit for various examinations every year. The facilities and opportunities that the people in the city have to further their studies and increase their knowledge of human affairs are indeed many. As a result, the people of the city are usually better informed than those of the village, where even a newspaper is sometimes difficult to get.

The city could, therefore, be described as a place of ceaseless activity. Here, the drama of life is enacted every day.

But urban centers are filled with motorized transport and other sources of pollutants like waste from the large populations of people, or emissions from factories. The urban centers have very few or even totally missing green spaces with higher amount of pollutants that are so harmful for citizens. For a long time, lung cancers, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and asthma are just a few diseases common among urban dwellers.

Another disadvantage of living in a city is traffic congestion. Every day, many people have to struggle with the transportation jams, who usually face with being late in their office. They are always stuck for many hours on the way to work. In addition, more transports on the street are the main distributor of air pollution which can lead to many bad effects on man’s health.

It is undeniable that the cost of living in big cities is much higher than in countryside. The impact of this can result in the expensive cost of the public services such as health service, postal service, education… It will be difficult for the poor and workers to live in big cities with a low minimum wage. They seem to struggle with the rapid changes in the price of basic necessities and public services like hospitals, schools,…

This is my idea about the advantages and disadvantages of living in the city. But conclusion,we should choose for ourselves a place to live well.

What can people do to stay healthy?

1) Eat properly

Obesity is a huge issue in this country, pun intended. Over two thirds of Americans are overweight and 36% are obese! Further 32% of children and adolescents are overweight. This is unbelievable. As recently as a generation ago you would rarely see obese people. For sure, some of this is hereditary. But most of the issues are due to poor diet and sedentary lifestyles.

Volumes of books have been written about diets. Over the past decades we’ve seen low fat diets, no fat diets, low carbohydrate diets, low simple carbohydrate diets, high complex carbohydrate diets, high protein diets, low protein diets, water diets, cookie diets, milkshake diets, etc. Seemingly, just after everyone rushes to try these diets someone issues a study saying the diet doesn’t work or isn’t very healthy. It’s frustrating.

The best diet is one that has a balance of nutrients measured by calorie intake. U.S. Dietary Guidelines recommend that you eat more:

• Fruit and vegetables.

• Whole grains.

• Fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products.

• Lean protein.

And consume less:

• Fats and sugars.

• Refined grains.

• Sodium.

• Dietary cholesterol.

• Alcohol.

While these guidelines are useful, it’s hard to follow all of this in day-to-day life. The most important thing is something my grandmother always said: “moderation in all things.” Don’t over-eat, and eat a variety of foods. Balance your intake. The way to lose weight is to eat fewer calories over the course of each day. Another important practice is to eat breakfast. Studies show that skipping breakfast triggers the body to eat more later in the day and store calories. Other hints are to eat smaller quantities in each of the three main meals with healthy, small intakes in between.

2) Exercise

Once you’ve balanced your diet and limited calorie intake, you need to balance your calorie expenditure. “Calories in and calories out” is a good focus. If you burn more calories than you consume, weight will drop. If you eat more calories than you burn, usually you will gain weight as the body stores the excess.

Again, volumes of books have been written about various exercise regimens. The most important thing is to shut off the television, put away the electronic games, and get out and do something. Anaerobic exercise (weight or strength training) helps form bone density and builds muscle that more efficiently burns calories. Aerobic exercise also burns calories, helps with endurance, heart health, lung capacity, and strength. Studies show that metabolism increases during exercise but also continues at an elevated rate for hours afterwards

Be careful: don’t go from a sedentary life to full throttle. Make sure your doctor says you’re healthy enough, and then start slow and work your way up to an exercise regimen. Be sure also to drink enough water as you increase your exercise.

The best exercise in my opinion is walking. Walk outside when you can, or go to a shopping mall and walk inside in inclement weather. But move. Walking at a pace of 20-minute miles burns about 240-300 calories per hour depending on weight. And walking helps strengthen your heart, increase bone density, and builds endurance. Get out after dinner and go for a stroll.

3) Sleep

Finally, after eating right and exercising, you need to sleep. The average adult needs about eight hours of sleep per night. Sleep is the great cure-all. It is a time when your body recovers, and when your immune system is improved. A survey conducted by the American Cancer Society concluded that people who sleep less than 6 or more than 9 hours per night had a death rate 30 percent higher than those who regularly slept 7 to 8 hours. Even those who slept 6 hours or less who otherwise had no health problems had death rates 1.8 times higher than those who slept "normal" hours. So don’t cheat your sleep!

And so…

Eat sensibly with moderate calorie intake, exercise and burn at least as many calories as you consume, sleep 7 to 9 hours per night, and live forever! OK, not forever, but live a healthier, higher quality life.

  • Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish or other first grade protein sources like soy and dairy products.
  • Don’t skip breakfast as it is the most important meal of the day which gives you energy for whole of your day.
  • Have smaller meals at regular intervals of 2-3 hours. This will keep your metabolism in control.
  • Have enough water and fluids (not cold drinks) throughout the day.
  • Keep the levels of salt and sugar low in your daily diet.
  • Don’t have fried foods.
  • It’s OK to have rich food once in a while but don’t make it a regular thing.
  • Avoid junk food as much as possible.
  • So, make a habit of exercising regularly, even if it is brisk walking for 30 minutes.
  • Of course, it will be good if you can exercise a little more and that’s a must when you are overweight.
  • Choose your exercise as per your interest to remain motivated.
  • If you don’t like gym, don’t go there. Do aerobics or yoga. If not, go cycling, jogging, swimming or dancing.
  • When confronted with a problem, don’t think negative.
  • Think about the best and the worst situation that the problem can get you in.
  • Now, first focus on the worst situation- is it so bad that you need to lose your health by succumbing to the stress?
  • If not, half of your problem is solved.
  • Now focus on the best situation and the ways that can be employed to reach it.
  • Make a list of solutions- mentally or on paper.
  • Now, keep on reviewing and omitting the items (that now don’t look so good a solution) at every repetition.
  • Ultimately, you will be left with one or two options to try for solving your problem.
  • This will definitely help in relieving your stress.
  • If you are not able to relax and your mind wanders around, you might take help of relaxation techniques like meditation.
  • Learn new skills, develop your one time favorite hobbies that you had not been able to pursue due to busy work schedules.
  • Read, write, sing, dance, socialize, party, travel- anything that will make you happy.

Task 1:

I like living in the countryside because of some reasons. Environmentally speaking, it is a peaceful place. The air is fresh. The space is quiet. We can enjoy healthy natural conditions without worrying much about environmental pollution.

As for social security, the countryside is a safer place than a city. While urban security situation is always complicated with all kinds of crimes, rural areas are much more secure because most of countrymen are friendly and ready to help one another.

Moreover, rural life is also easier that in cities. People in cities are easy to get stressed because of pollution, job pressures, competitions, etc ... On the contrary, those bad things are very rare in the countryside. To sum up, except income matters, the countryside is a better residence than cities.

Task 2:

The village has always been known to be a place of peace and quiet. The scattered houses among hundreds of plants and trees at once indicate the lack of activity in the village.

The workers in the village leave their homes early in the morning to work in the plantations or towns nearby. Some have their own plantations, and some make certain articles in their homes to sell them in the towns. A few of the villagers, including women, go out to catch fish in the streams and rivers found in the village. Though the people of the village do not usually earn much, yet they seem to be contented.

In the afternoon, most of the villagers are at home. Some of them take a nap after lunch; some work in their small gardens, and some visit the small shops in the village. In various parts of the village children may be seen playing the popular games of the village. Occasionally, a cyclist passes by.

Then, in the evening, the villagers meet one another. Some play cards and other types of games peculiar to the village. Some talk about the day's incidents in the village, and those whose minds go beyond the village discuss world events.

In almost every village there is a headman whose duty is to settle quarrels among the villagers and maintain peace in the village. Whenever there is a dispute, the villagers go to the headman who is held in such esteem that his word has the force or law. In this way the villagers have developed their own simple laws, and the crimes of cities are almost unknown to the people of the village.

During a festival, the whole village is alive with activities. Everyone is in a happy mood and plays his part to make the festival a success. This is the time for the men, women and children of the village to wear their best clothes and the village is full of colour. These simple ways of life in the village, however, must soon change. Progress in science and education has already begun to affect the outlook of the people in the village, and hundreds are leaving the village to seek their fortunes in the towns and cities.

Life in the countryside is quite different from that in the city. First, it is the atmosphere that differentiates the two living environments. In the countryside, the air and water are much fresher and safer, thus living there is totally comfortable and beneficial for our health. In contrast, people who live in big cities suffer from health problems and diseases related to poor air quality and sources of polluted water. Second, prices and costs of living are cheaper in the countryside than in big cities. Vegetables, fruits and meats are home-grown and home-produced. However, in cities, people have to go shopping for them. Third, the interpersional relationships are more harmonious and friendlier. Those who live in the same village, especially neighbours, for example, know each other very well. There is a close-knit cooperation between people in working and many other daily activities. On the contrary, negatively speaking, city people only live and know their own business. They hardly care about who their neighbours are and what they do. Sending a helping hand, as a result, is never seen among city people. In conclusion, although the city life holds many advantages that make life more convenient, I always prefer living in the countryside where the environment is nice, the costs of living is affordable, and the intimate relationships among people are really meaningful. Personally, If I had a choice between a villa in the city and a small house with garden surrounding, the latter would seem better to me.
