A TRIP TO THE FARNE ISLANDS
When I was a child, my family used to go on holiday (1) year to visit our relatives in the north-east of England. One of the most exciting things you can do in that part of the world (2) visit the Farne Islands. There you can see many different sea creatures and all kinds of different birds, ranging (3) puffins to seals. One summer, we booked a trip to land on one of the islands (4) there was a lighthouse. Just (5) the trip was due to leave, we wandered along the quayside watching the children diving into the water at the end of the pier. Soon it (6) time to board the small boat (7) would take us to our destination. And we headed (8) the islands, the sky began to cloud over and a strong wind sprang up. We soon found (9) in the middle of an extremely rough sea. ‘If this is what happens in summer, what’s the weather (10) in winter?’ asked one of the passengers. A member of the crew, (11) was standing next to the woman, told her (12) to worry. He assured her that the storm would pass as quickly as (13) had come. And he was right! Within half an hour, the sky was bright and the wind had dropped. (14) we landed on the island, the sea was calm. The wildlife we saw was (15) amazing that we decided to make the trip a regular feature of future holidays-whatever the weather
