Elephant Race Festival is a traditional event held every year during the third lunar month at Buon Don Village, Daklak province. The festival is quite popular among tourists as well as local people because of its uniqueness. On this day, elephants from different villages are sent to the forest near Serepok river to take part in the friendly competition. In order to prepare for the race, they are usually rested and fed with food such as sugar canes, corns, bananas,.…The race track is wide enough to fit up to ten elephants and usually a couple of kilometers in length.
