What natural disasters occur in Viet Nam?
Viet Nam, located in Southeast Asia, has both sub-tropical and tropical climates. Typically, the weather is hot and humid. Rain falls on a daily basis, especially during the monsoon season. Let's take a look at some of the previous natural disasters that have happened in this country.
Typhoons, also known as tropical cyclones, are common in Viet Nam, where there are typically five of them yearly. The typhoon season varies by region. The month’s most likely to be affected by a typhoon in the northeast are October through March, while the central coast's is August through November, and the southwest's is April to September. In Viet Nam, heavy rains, usually induced by tropical storms, can last for a long time, causing damaging floods and landslides. Heavy rains can rush across numerous cities and villages, sweeping people and livestock to their deaths.
When a cold front hits the top of Viet Nam, it may cause severe and deadly weather systems. Hailstorms are most frequently seen in the northern provinces of Son La, Ha Giang, Lai Chau, and Yen Bai. Hail may be quite harmful when it occurs, especially to houses and crops, as it has been known to damage fields of corn and many fruit trees. In Viet Nam, storms with strong winds and heavy rain can cause a violent tornado.
Tornadoes are uncommon in Vietnam, but they can occur and can be devastating. Earthquakes do not happen frequently in Vietnam, although they do occur rarely. The majority of earthquakes that have happened have been small; nevertheless, there have been a few that have shaken the nation. 33.
