Vietnam is famous for its several holiday and festival, especially Tet holiday. It takes place from the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar until at least the third day. Although occurring in short period of time, it is believed to be the most important and popular holiday in Vietnam. There are many special food are made so as to prepare for Tet meal such as: sky square cake, Vietnamese sausage, sky rice and jam. The food is thought to reflect Vietnam’s habit and custom as well as Vietnamese’s lifestyle. Besides, the meal has other dishes fish, vegetable to show the hope for a successful and prosperous new year. In term of customs, children’s receiving red envelop from the elder, visiting relative’s houses and going to church are popular activities. Giving lucky money is thought to bring children hope and health. Church is the symbol of peace; therefore, individual go there and pray for successive year. Traditionally, the house is designed with peach flower in the North and Ochna integerrima in the south part of Vietnam. Besides, the house as well as town are clear, decorative and beautiful as all are ready to start a new year. People have cozy atmosphere and enjoy joyful time with their family’s members. It’s high time for people living at different parts of country gathering and spending time together. Tet is a chance for one to come back home after many stress and pressure of studying and working environment. Tet is not simply a holiday, it is culture and habit of Vietnamese since its deep meaning is sacred and important. All in all, Tet includes not only joy but also long-standing event in people’s soul as it helps one grow up through experience.

Việt Nam nổi tiếng với những lễ hội và kì nghỉ đặc biệt là lễ tết. Nó thường xảy ra từ ngày 1 đến ngày 3 tháng một âm lịch. Mặc dù diễn ra trong thời gian ngắn, nó được tin là kì nghỉ quan trọng và nổi tiếng của Việt Nam. Chùa là biểu tượng của sự yên bình, bởi thế mọi người tới đây và cầu nguyện cho năm mới thành công. Theo truyền thống, mỗi nhà được trang trí với cây hoa đào ở miền bắc và cây hoa mai ở miền nam. Ngoài ra, nhà và đường luôn sạch sẽ, và đẹp đẽ bởi vì tất cả đều sẵn sàng cho một năm mới. mọi người có không gian ấm cúng và khoảng thời gian vui vẻ với các thành viên trong gia đình. Đây là thời điểm để mọi người sống ở mọi miền đất nước sum họp và dành thời gian cho nhau. Tết là cơ hội để mọi người quay trở về nhà sau những áp lực và căng thẳng từ môi trường học tập và làm việc. Tết không chỉ là một ngày lễ thông thường, nó là văn hóa à lối sống của người Việt bởi vì ý nghĩa sâu xa của nó rất thiêng liêng và quan trọng. According to the legend, in early 1428, Emperor Lê Lợi was boating on the lake when a Golden Turtle God (Kim Qui) surfaced and asked for his magic sword, Heaven's Will. Lợi concluded that Kim Qui had come to reclaim the sword that its master, a local God, the Dragon King (Long Vương) had given Lợi some time earlier, during his revolt against Ming China. Later, cô Lợi gave the sword back to the turtle after he finished fighting off the Chinese. Lợi renamed the lake to commemorate this event, from its former name Luc Thuy meaning "Green Water". The Turtle Tower (Thap Rùa) standing on a small island near the centre of lake is linked to the legend. The first name of Hoàn Kiếm lake is Tả Vọng, when the King haven't gave the Magical Sword back to the Golden Turtle God.

The Huc Bridge

Large soft-shell turtles, either of the species Rafetus swinhoei or a separate species named Rafetus leloi in honor of the emperor, had been sighted in the lake for many years. The last known individual was found dead on January 19, 2016. There are three remaining turtles of the species R. swinhoei.

Near the northern shore of the lake lies Jade Island on which the Temple of the Jade Mountain (Ngoc Son Temple) stands. The temple was erected in the 18th century. It honors the 13th-century military leader Tran Hung Dao who distinguished himself in the fight against the Yuan Dynasty, Van Xuong, a scholar, and Nguyen Van Sieu, a Confucian master and famous writer in charge of repairs made to the temple in 1864. Jade Island is connected to the shore by the wooden red-painted The Huc Bridge
