Đại từ sở hữu thường được dùng để tránh không phải nhắc lại tính từ sở hữu và danh từ đã đề cập trước đó trong câu

Đại từ sở hữu có thể thay thế cho danh từ. Có 2 trường hợp cần chú ý đó là his và its, dù không khó để phân biệt nhưng nhiều học viên vẫn nhầm lẫn giữa tính từ và đại từ sở hữu. Nếu chưa thật sự quá thành thạo, tốt nhất bạn không nên dùng cả đại từ sở hữu và danh từ trong cùng một câu nếu không muốn câu văn trở nên phức tạp.

Ví dụ:

Your mother is the same as her (Mẹ của bạn cũng là mẹ của cô ấy.)

You’ve got my bag. Where’s yours? (Bạn vừa cầm túi của mình. Túi của bạn đâu rồi?)

I will go to Ha Long Bay to visit may grandparent. Then I go to Hue to play with my friend, in 2pm, we are go to the beach. At 6pm, we are go to the movie thearter to see a movie. The next day, I go to Ho Chi Minh city to visit may best friend. His name is Long. At 7pm, I go to home.

Now is April and I'm going to have a trip on next summer holiday. I want to have a great holiday with friends and boyfriend so I need prepare a perfect plan. We are going to go to Co To island on three days by motobike and boat. Our trip will start from Hanoi to Van Don about 250 kilometer by motobike and from Van Don to Co To island by boat. After, we will hire room in a hotel and have lunch in a restaurant near hotel with seafoods, such as shrimp, bib and so on. After lunch, we'll walk around places near there. The second days, we'll go watch the sunrise in the morning after hire motobike of people in the island to visit nature places there, especially the lighthouse. Next to we'll go bathe, sunbathing and look at sunset together. The third days, we'll go to market on the morning to buy things, which is only available here. Finally, we'll prepare luggage to return to Hanoi. During trip, camera, money, swimsuit, sunscreen, map, jacket, hat are indispensable things.
