Some children can learn more efficiently by watching TV. Therefore, children should watch TV regularly both in school and at home? Do you agree or disagree?
It is irrefutable that TV is a very efficient teacher. While I agree that watching TV is pretty beneficial for children’s learning, I disagree that children should be motivated to watch TV both at home and in school on a regular basis.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that TV brings a variety of advantages for children. Firstly, television provides children with a huge source of information about the world around them. Watching various TV shows such as: History channel, BBC, National Geographic channel or Animal Planet, as a consequence, will not only enhance children’s knowledge but also raise their curiosity and generate more motivation to discover the outer world. Furthermore, TV programmes are often designed with vivid audio and images as well as fascinating contents, which might draw children’s attention more efficiently than listen to long-hour lectures in class.
On the other hand, television also has a negative influence on the development of children due to the ignorance of parents and teachers. The first reason is that many TV shows are not suitable for children. For instance, when children watch many violent scenes in the films, they would have a tendency to immitate bad reactions such as: swearng, burglary, vandalism or even murder like the actors. As a result, if parents don’t take control of their children’s watching, they will easily become aggressive in the future. Secondlly, by dint of spending too much time on watching TV, their visions can be affected seriously. It is evident that more and more students are myopics today due to watching TV for long hours.
To put it in a nutshell I pen down saying that, although television is a very well educational source, it should be used within limits and whatever children learn from TV should also be carefully monitored by parents and teachers.
