Looking back on that day, we all agreed it was my greatest victory. I have been very tired and sad, I’m not always confident at participating in competitions and contests. Though, at that time, I had one ambition:  winning something. So I decided to combine my fear of water with participating in a swimming contest, to overcome both being able to swim in the cool water and feel confident.

The next day, I joined a swimming class first. I learned to swim for two months and finally finished on the last day. I feel very confident and proud. Then I joined a swimming contest. I was really scared when it was the day I had to compete with other swimmers. At night, I took a deep breath and try to memorise how I swam. Then I went to sleep, hoping that tomorrow is a good day. Now, I am in the pool, my feet shaking, my throat dry, my hands squeezing each other. I took a deep breath again, and heard the whistle blow.

I immediately dived down the pool with the other contestants and swam as fast as I could. I thought I was in slow-motion because everything was blurry from the speediness of my swimming.

I can't believe my eyes! I got first place and a gold medal. I was really proud of my work, though a little bit surprised and confused because I didn't look where I was going. It had been years that I've been joyful, proud. I was always pessimistic, always thinking negative and can’t believe I could win. I heard my parents crying tears of joy and shouting happily. It was the most confusing but happiest day ever in my life.
