While still in Turkey, on November 29, 1855, after a show praising Florence Nightingale for her achievements, some people joined her in organizing a tribute to raise money to train nurses, called the Nightingale Quarter. Many people contributed money to support. Sidney Herbert as honorary secretary and the Duke of Cambridge as president. In 1859 Nightingale donated £45,000 from the Nightingale Foundation to install the Nightingale Nursing School at St. Thomas. The school opened its accounts on 9 July 1860 (today known as the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Maternity at Kings College in London).
