Walt Disney is famous around the world for creating Mickey Mouse and founding The Walt Disney Company. He is remembered as a man with great imagination who changed the world of films and cartoons.
Childhood and education
He was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in a big family with four brothers and one sister. As a child, he liked drawing and telling stories. He studied at McKinley High School and later attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts.
Achievements
He was a very successful filmmaker, who created Mickey Mouse in 1928. His first big success was Steamboat Willie, the first cartoon with sound. Later, he produced many famous movies such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (the first full-length animated film), Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. Apart from films, he was also famous for building Disneyland in California in 1955, the first modern theme park. During his life, he won 22 Academy Awards, more than any other person in history.
Family
In 1925, he married Lillian Bounds. They had two daughters, Diane and Sharon.
Death and the continued success of The Walt Disney Studios
He died on December 15, 1966, in Los Angeles. After his death, The Walt Disney Studios continued to expand. Today, Disney films and parks are loved all over the world.
