Bats are not the dirty, bloodthirsty monsters that they are portrayed to be in vampire films. These animals groom themselves carefully like cats and only rarely carry rabies. Of the hundreds of species of bats, only three rely on blood meals. In fact, the majority eat fruit, insects, spiders, or small animals. They consume an enormous number of pests, pollinate many varieties of plant life, and help reforest barren land by excreting millions of undigested seeds.

Almost all bats use echolocation to navigate, especially at night. As they fly, they emit a series of high-pitched squeaks at the rate of about fifty per minute. As these signals bounce off objects in their path, an echo is detected by the bats' sensitive ears which informs them of the direction and distance of obstacles so that they can undertake corrective or evasive action. But bats are not blind as widely assumed. In fact, all species of bats can see, probably about as well as human beings.

It is also a little-known fact that bats are highly social creatures. Thousands or even millions of individual bats may belong to a colony, hanging upside down in caves or in trees. Within their social systems, bats assume specialized roles. Some may guard the entrance to their caves, others may scout for food, and still others may warn the colony of approaching danger. A nursery colony may be part of a larger colony to provide mother bats with a safe, supportive environment in which to rear their young.

There are two types of air pollution. That is the outdoor air pollution caused by factories, automobiles and biological matter. We most commonly associate air pollution with smog and acid rain. That is of course a problem and you might be surprised how aware children are of the air pollution concerns. However, there is also indoor air pollution. Indoor air pollution causes just as many health problems around the globe as outdoor air pollution. And because many people are not aware of it, they suffer unnecessarily. According to the World Health Organization, 2.4 million people die each year from air pollution and 1.5 million of these deaths are caused by indoor air pollution. Educating young  kids about  air pollution can be an efficient solution to this alarming worldwide issue because it can make them somewhat aware of air pollution. They may have heard about the greenhouse effect, global warming and acid rain. These problems may be  frightening for children to hear. However, children also have the power to make changes both inside their home and globally.

6.      What causes the outdoor air pollution?

Completing a marathon is considered very difficult, many coaches believe that it is possible for anyone who is willing to put in the time and effort. Obviously, most participants do not run a marathon to win. More important for most runners is their personal finish time and their placement within their specific age group and gender. Another very important goal is to break certain time barriers. For example, ambitious recreational first-timers often try to run the marathon under 4 hours; more competitive runners will attempt to run under 3 hours. Many runners then prefer to finish for example in 3:29:59, which makes them " sub-3:30h marathoners ", instead of 3:30:01.

For most runners, the marathon is the longest run they have ever attempted. Many coaches believe that the most important element in marathon training is the long run. Recreational runners commonly try to reach a maximum of about 20 miles in their longest weekly run and about 40 miles a week in total when training for the marathon. More experienced marathoners may run a longer distance. During marathon training, adequate recovery time is crucial. If fatigue or pain is felt, it is recommended to take a kreak for a couple of days or more to let the body heal. Overtraining is a condition that results from not getting enough rest to allow the body to recover from difficult training. It can actually result in a lower endurance and speed and place a runner at a greater risk of injury.

C. it is time for him to stop his training D. he should take a break for several days

5. Overtraining may lead to _________ .

1. A beauty contest is a competition based mainly, though not always entirely , on the physical beauty of its contestants. But it doesn’t involve of their personalities , and questions they answer and how they answer them . Almost invariably, competitions for men and women are separate events, and those for men are not referred to as beauty contests . Beauty contests for women are more common , and winners are called beauty queens. Beauty contests for men , like Mr. Universe, are more likely to be “body building” contests quite unlike the traditional “beauty contests” in which women are judged upon many attributes both physical and otherwise . However, in the 1990s, male “beauty contests” began to shift focus. Instead of only considering muscle mass, the competitions began to judge the natural physical attributes of the contestants as well as their physiques. These include Mr. World and Manhunt International.

A load of rubbish

Line

In the UK, people are finally starting to listen to the message about recycling. British families now recycle about 22% of their waste. Only for five years ago, the figure was 10%. That’s good news for the environment- but there’s a lot more than to do. Some other European countries, like Germany and Holland, already recycle about 60% of their waste and that’s the goal for the UK.

Households in England which produce 25 million tons of waste a year. More than half of this is garden waste, paper, cardboard and kitchen waste – with which people could recycle. They could also recycle plastic, wood, glass and aluminum cans. In fact, if everybody in the UK was recycled all of their drink cans, there would be 14 million fewer rubbish bins of waste each year.

Recycling isn’t the only way to reduce the amount of rubbish what we throw away. More than 40% of the waste in our bins is packaging from shopping. If we changed the way to we shop, we could easily reduce the amount of waste. For example, street markets and small shops often use less packaging than supermarkets. And being of course, if we grow our own vegetables, there wouldn’t be any packaging at all.
