Hunger has become a serious problem in many parts of the world.

The first cause of hunger is the fast growth of population. The earth is no longer able to fees its more than seven billion people. There is not enough land for growing food.

The change of climate also brings to the earth more weather-related disasters such as storms and droughts… They heavily destroy crops.

Wars are still happening. People are fighting, or running away from home. There’s nobody to work on the field or in the factory to produce food.

Technology is working hard to help solve part of this problem. In the future, we will have warning systems to reduce the loss from natural disasters. Low-cost means of transport will also be used to carry food to area-in-need.

Questions:

  1. What is the first cause of hunger?
  2. How can we reduce the loss from natural disasters in the future?
  3. What disasters heavily destroy the crops?
  4. What is the passage about?

I like a lot of different actors, but my real favourites are Daniel Craig and Halle Berry.

Daniel Craig is British and he’s a really talented actor. He’s been in a lot of different kinds of films including action adventure, science fiction, and romantic drama, but he always gives an excellent performance. He was brilliant in Tomb Raider as Alex West, but my favourite film is Casino Royale.I think Daniel Craig is a fantastic James Bond.

Halle Berry is American. She was a model, but then decided to become an actress. I like her because she’s beautiful. She’s a good actress and I think she has a great sense of humour. I’m not keen on some of her films, such as Catwoman, but her other films are excellent. My favourite is X-Men which is a science fiction film. She plays the main character Storm, who has the ability to change the weather.

Daniel Craig and Halle Berry are both entertaining and talented actors. I love watching their films.

1.What are Nick’s favourite actors?

2.Where does Daniel Craig come from?

3.What kinds of films has he played?

4.What is his role in Tomb Raider?

5. What was Halle Berry's job before she became an actress?

6.Why does Nick like Halle Berry?

Over the next few years, she started in more hit movies including Little Women (1994), Jumanji (1995), the romantic Get Over It (2001) and Mona Lisa Smile with Julia Roberts (2003). However, her most successful films are the Spider-Man film (2002-2004) with Tobey Maguire, where she plays the parts of superhero Spider-Man’s girlfriend, Mary Jane.

Space exploration is much too expensive and the money should be spent on more important things. What is your opinion?

It's often argued that space exploration is too expensive and the money should be spent on more important things. This essay disagrees with that suggestions completely because of the benefits space exploration brings to the people. The essay will first look at how space exploration has effected in our life and then discuss how it would help the human in the future.
First of all, a plethora of technologies we are using nowadays was invented based on space research. The scientists launch the satellite into space. Then they will the information from it to work out new ideas. For example, we can see roads, houses, restaurants, schools,.e.t.c on the Google Map very clearly. It's because the satellites send photos they have taken to the centre on the Earth. This helps me a lot because I often feel arduous while try to find the correct road.
Furthermore, the population of the world is increasing day by day. This is the reason why we should find out a new planet that we can live in. I think this is quite possible and this will affect a lot in our life. For instance, finding a new planet that we can live in can decrease some problems which are caused by high population such as the traffic jam, the pollution and there is not enough food, job and houses for people today.
In recapitulation, space exploration should be improved to make further technologies and solve the serious problem on the Earth that we are facing.

Will people still read books 100 years from now? A few years ago, many people would have said no. It seemed likely that computers and the Internet would replace books. Now, however, most experts think that books are here to stay.

There are a number of reasons why computers will not replace books entirely. One reason is that books on paper are much cheaper than computers. And books do not need a power source. You can read a book for as long as you want and wherever you want. You never have to worry about losing power. Also, many people feel more comfortable reading woeds in a book than reading woeds on a computer screen because it is less tiring to the eyes.

Will books in the future be exactly the same as the books you can buy today? The answer to that question is no. In the future, you may only need to buy one book. With this one book, you will be able to read novels, plays, and newspapers. It will look like today's books, but it will be electronic.

One of the people working on the book of the future is Professor joseph Jacobson from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Professor Jacobson's electronic book will have a small button on the side. When you oress the button, woeds will instantlu appear on the page. When you want to read a different story, you can push the button again and a new story will quickly appear.

1. The phrase are here to stay in the first paragraph mostly means .......

2. Which of the following is true according to the passage ?

3. What will the book of the future look like?

4.The button on the side of the electronic book is used....

5.What is the main topic of the passage?

Money is something we all take for granted in our lives. Some of us may wish we had more of it but we all recognize it when we see it, whether in the form of coins, notes or cheques. It is difficult to imagine how people managed without money. In the earliest periods of human history, people used to exchange goods directly. They would exchange things they had plenty of for things that they were in need of. For example, they might offer food for tools. This method of exchange, which is known as “barter”, has many disadvantages. Certain goods may be difficult to carry, they may not last long, or may be impossible to divide into smaller units. It can also be difficult to know the worth of something compared with other goods.

According to historians, the first money, in the sense we understand it today, consisted of gold coins produced about 2,500 years ago. Gold, being a very precious metal, was a suitable material. The introduction of gold coins was acceptable to everyone and they were still being used at the beginning of this century, although they have now been replaced by paper money and coins made of ordinary metals.

1. In the old days, people exchanged………..

A. what they needed for what they had B. food for tools

The driving rules can be very different among countries and areas. Therefore, you need to learn the laws before travelling abroad, or you will get into trouble with the police.

The most common difference is the legal driving age. Simply, it is the age when a person can get their driving license to drive a motor vehicle. Most countries have a driving age of at least eighteen. However, in some states of the USA, the number is sixteen. Meanwhile, in New Zealand, a person must be at least fifteen to drive.

Surprisingly, women in some parts of the world are not allowed to drive no matter how old they are. Instead, they must travel by car with a male family member or hired male driver. This situation has changed, but only recently. Some countries even have very strange or unusual laws. For example, in Cyprus, it is against the law to eat or drink anything while driving.
