<=> x - 4 - 1 = 0

<=> x = 5

b. 4 - (x - 2)2 = 0

<=> 22 - (x - 2)2 = 0

<=> (2 - x + 2)(2 + x - 2) = 0

<=> 5x2 + x - 25x - 5 = 5x2 - 80

<=> 5x2 - 5x2 + x - 25x = -80 + 5

<=> -24x = -75
