Tet is a traditional holiday of our country, Vietnam.
It often begins in late-January and ends in early-February. With the meaning of seeing the old year off and welcoming the new year, Tet becomes a special occasion of reunion for Vietnamese families. At that time, all family members try to come back to their home and get together to make such preparations for Tet as buying new clothes and cleaning their house. A branch of apricot blossoms or a Kumquat tree is indispensable decoration for every family in these days. They seem like a fresh air to the house. We display a tray full of fruits and vases of flowers on the ancestral altar.
Some typical Tet's food are sweets, coconut jam, fruit candies, melon seeds, stew pork with eggs, and especially sticky rice cake. Tet meals are usually bigger and more delicious than our daily ones.
On Tet holiday, people have many recreational activities. Young persons take part in the traditional games such as: tug of war, cooking rice, cock fighting, watching lion dance. Many people visit relatives to wish a happy new year. Adults will give lucky money to children. Woman like going to pagoda to wish good things for their family.
In my opinion, I like cozy and fresh Tet atmosphere. All family members gather and talk about resolutions for a happy new year. I can hang out with my friend and don't worry about anything.
" Tet" holiday is always in Vietnamese's heart.

Bat Trang Porcelain Village is a traditional pottery-making village, which is located in the Northern of the Red River, Bat Trang town, Gia Lam district, Ha Noi. The pottery here is made of a special kind of clay – the white clay.
The craftsmen only use their hands to knead the clay into the shape of the bowl, flower vase, etc. Then, they draw lively pictures or patterns on the products and glaze them. After that, these kneaded-clays will be put into the kiln for heating.
The pottery products of Bat Trang Porcelain Village are always famous for the skillfulness, subtleness and the diversity of product’s shapes such as small bowls, large bowls, flower vases, pots, thuribles, etc. Especially, all the handicrafts of this pottery-making village are waterproof and fade-resistant.
The glaze of Bat Trang is also very subtle and unique with the secret recipe, which is handed down from generation to generation. Those values have created such an irresistible attraction and appealing feature for Bat Trang village. This is the reason why this traditional handicraft village can attract so many tourists as well.

Everybody has his or her own hobby. My favourite hobby is reading. I enjoy reading a book when I am free. I started to get the hobby from my father when I was four years old. My father is a researcher so he has a great collection of books on many fields: literature, science, art,…
I enjoy reading because it allows me to explore my own imaginative world. I keep the hobby of reading at least one hour every day. I usually read books at home, in my own room, at my office or at the local library. On my freetime, I can spend hours reading and thinking about facts described in each kind of books.
My favourite author is J.K.Rowling who wrote world-famous books “ Harry Potter”.
For me a good book is not only a true companion but also a well-experienced teacher guiding me through my life. There are a lot of advantages of reading. Reading makes me feel relaxed and calm. It has the miracle to relieve my suffering and my hardship and reveal to me strange and new horizons. I can also learn new vocabularies and grammars. So I can further improve my English. Moreover, it gives me unlimited imaginations. I can learn about different cultures of other countries in the world, too.
Instead of indulging myself in futile entertainments, I am often keen on reading books, which broadens my mind and improves my knowledge.
In a few words, the reading of books contributes to the moral and intellectual formation of a man. I love reading and I love books. I will collect more and more books and I wish I can write my own books in the future.

I would like to talk about the Lunar New Year festival, also known as the Tet holiday, which is the occasion expected the most by Vietnamese people every year. The festival usually lasts for around 3-4 days, and it takes place when a new year comes according to the lunar calendar.
The Lunar New Year festival takes place because it is one of the most well-known traditions of Vietnam. Our people have been celebrating this occasion for thousands of years, and although there has been some recent argument about whether we should stop celebrating this festival, I do not think this activity will come to an end soon, at least not in the short term.
There are some common things that people do during this festival. Perhaps the most important thing is that people who work and study in big cities would go back to their hometown to celebrate the new year with their families and relatives. The new year festival is one of very few occasions that families can gather together, so it is easy to understand why everyone in Vietnam expects this festival so much. Another thing that we usually do is that we give children some “lucky money” with the hope that it will bring fortune to those kids. We also have some other activities such as making “chung” cake, visiting temples and pagodas… and so on.
The new year festival is so important to me and also to all Vietnamese citizens. The reason is because we get more days off from work and study, and therefore we have more time to spend with our families and our loved ones. It is also a great time to think about what we have done in the previous year, and to make plans for the upcoming year.

One of the celebrations in Vietnam that holds a special place is the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as Tet Trung Thu. This festival is traditionally celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, which usually falls in September.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is a joyous occasion that is particularly cherished by children and families. It is a time when people gather together to appreciate the beauty of the full moon, enjoy colorful lanterns, and engage in various festive activities.
One of the highlights of the Mid-Autumn Festival is the custom of carrying and parading lanterns. Children and adults alike craft and decorate lanterns in various shapes and sizes, often featuring popular characters from folklore or modern cartoons. The lanterns illuminate the night sky, creating a magical and enchanting atmosphere.
Another significant aspect of the festival is the tradition of lion and dragon dances. These captivating performances involve dancers manipulating large, vibrant lion or dragon puppets to the beat of drums and cymbals. It is believed that these dances bring good luck and ward off evil spirits.
One of the most delightful aspects of the Mid-Autumn Festival is the abundance of mooncakes. These round pastries are filled with various delicious ingredients like sweet bean paste, lotus seed paste, or salted egg yolks. Mooncakes are exchanged among family members, friends, and business associates as a symbol of unity and good wishes.
The Mid-Autumn Festival also provides an opportunity for families to come together and enjoy a festive meal. Relatives gather to share a delicious feast that often includes traditional dishes like sticky rice, fruits, and other seasonal delicacies.
What makes the Mid-Autumn Festival memorable is the sense of community and togetherness it fosters. The celebration brings people of all ages and backgrounds together, promoting unity and harmony. It is a time when families bond, children indulge in joyful activities, and cultural traditions are passed down from one generation to another.
Overall, the Mid-Autumn Festival in Vietnam is a delightful and heartwarming celebration that showcases the rich cultural heritage and the strong sense of community in the country.

Tham khảo: I came to Hanoi on an autumn day, and my first feeling was the feeling of a peaceful space, not like in Ho Chi Minh City. That feeling was overwhelming all my soul when I was walking along Nguyen Du Street and enjoying the Milk flower. Why was it so beautiful here? In the early winter night, in slightly cold spread hoarfrost, sitting on the bank of Thien Quang Lake, whether at the other side, I still smelt its perfume. I walked along the street and dropped myself in a sweet smell of Milk flower, the wind blew my hair, and I felt so great.
Milk flower on the streets of Hanoi goes deeply inside the memories of Hanoi people and all visistors who have come to Hanoi. It also goes into the music, the poetry, movies. Those are some good ways to introduce Milk flower to everybody. For me, means of communication such as internet or TV are the best ways to introduce Milk flower for all over the world. It is simple when everyone looks at all wonderful pictures or images of Milk flower, they will want to come and enjoy it. In Japan, they have cherry blossom, in Netherlands, they have tulip…How can we know about it? That is all thanks to means of communication. We must let them know that in Hanoi, we have Milk flower. Therefore, the things we need to do now are we should have a website about Milk Flower with pictures, clips, songs, poetry in many languages (if we can)… or we can hold more activities which relate to Milk flower. We must have some more activities to advertise this kind of flower. That was what I think when I saw Milk flower for the first time.
I love Hanoi. I love the early cold winter nights with Milk flower’s smell. I hope Milk flowers will be grown more on Hanoi streets. Milk flower is a precious gift that nature gives to us, especially to Hanoi, our beloved capital.

Seoul is the capital of Korea, the largest city in Korea, and its population is one of the largest in all over the world. More than half of the Korean population is concentrated here, and it makes Seoul a cultural and political center of Korea. When anyone mentions Korea, a lot people immediately think of the K-pop music market and the internationally popular artists. If you are a big fan of K-pop, some big entertainment companies are unmissable places to visit. By stopping by there, we can see and buy idol-related products; and if we are lucky enough, we can meet and get their autographs when they come by the company. After meeting famous people, we can visit the palace or the historical museum of Korea. Besides sightseeing, eating is also important thing that we should do in Seoul. Seoul is home to almost every traditional Korean food such as kimchi, sticky rice cakes, rice wine, soju etc. It is nothing more interesting than eating steak with a bowl of hot boiling kimchi soup, and enjoying some glasses of soju in Korea's cold weather. Besides, Seoul is also a city of sport since it hosted the Asian Games 1986, the 1988 Summer Olympics, and this was also one of the host cities of the 2002 World Cup. There are a lot of special things about Seoul that have not been mentioned yet, but it is still enough to see that Seoul is a lovely and worth-living city.
