Advertising
When a company wants to increase the sales of a product, it will usually advertise. An advertisement (says / indicates / tells / announces)1...........us what products are available and it also (approves / suggests / wins / persuades)2...........us to buy a particular product. Today’s television advertisements (arrive / pass / reach / spread)3...........millions of people, but the first forms of advertising were much more local. Market traders shouted out what they had for sale and large signs (has / were / had / are)4........... displayed outside shops. Modern advertising began about 150 years ago, (which / whether / why / when)5...........factories started producing goods (in / at / for / by)6...........large quantities. Before long, advertisements for a wide (area / row / range / pack)7...........of products appeared in national newspapers. Nowadays, we see many different (methods / kinds / systems / ways)8........of advertisements. They can appear on the sides of vehicles and on the clothes we wear as well as on television and radio. But the (aim / plan / attempt / wish)9.........of all advertisements is the same. They try to (pull / achieve / bring / attract)10.......our attention and get us to buy a particular product.
