Nghe An Province was badly affected again when a typhoon hit the area last night. The storm began at around 11 p.m. and raged thoughout the night. Dozens of people were seriously injured and hundreds of others were left homeless. The severe winds caused extensive damage to property, including homes and businesses, parularly in Cua Lo, a coastal town in Nghe An. The storm had already weakened by the time emergency workers arrived in the area. Rescue operations have started and many people trapped in collapsed or damaged buidings have been freed. Workers are now clearing up the debris left behind by the severe storm. The government has already sent rescue equipment to Nghe An, as well as food and medical supplies. People left homeless have been taken to safe areas, where temporary accommodation will be built to house them. The weather bureau has issued flood warning for Nghe An and nearby provinces as heavy rain is expected to continue over the next few days.
1. Write about a natural disaster you have read about.
The most destructive disaster that I have experienced was the flood in 2012, in Thanh Hoa province. It had been raining heavily for many days. All homes, trees and animals were flooded. The water got to the roof of houses. Damage was caused to property and people. Many people were injured and died. Rescue workers helped people trapped in the flooded houses and they brought people who were left homeless to safe place. My house was flooded but we had been evacuated before. Although the time has gone by, I still can’t forget that terrible disaster.

We all know that natural disasters happen all over the world, and they can completely destroy human lives as well as our environment. There are many different natural causes of natural disasters, and being aware of them helps us to be better prepared when they do.
In Vietnam, there have been many times of natural disasters and floods. In particular, the most recent is the Flood in Central 2020. In recent years, Vietnam has never suffered such intense natural disasters. Only from mid-September to mid-November 2020, storms and floods occurred consecutively in the central region with very strong intensity, on a large scale, causing great damage to people and property. Vietnam is located next to the East Sea with a long coastline, and suffers from floods every year. If calculating separately from Thanh Hoa to Binh Thuan, the central coast is 1,200km long, the rainy season in the Central region usually lasts from July to November. Each year, on average, there are about 5-8 storms, however in 2020 , this number nearly doubles. One of the things people say the most is that the intensity of storms coming from the East Sea into the Central is more and more intense. It causes huge, heavy rainfall from 150mm to 200mm in a day. Heavy rainfall causes areas to flood quickly, and most mountain reservoirs quickly fill up and require emergency discharge. In addition, the development of dense small hydroelectricity in the central mountainous regions. This amount of hydroelectricity has participated in deforestation to make reservoirs.
Floods destroy land, paddy fields, houses, and damage facilities in the middle region. People lost their homes and even their lives due to floods. Although Vietnam always supports localities, it takes time and as soon as life is restored, floods will happen again. To prevent this, the government is looking for a new, modern solution and put in place preventive measures with warnings as soon as possible.
TOPIC: TSUNAMI
A tsunami is a series of waves created when a large volume of ocean water is rapidly displaced. Tsunami brings many disasters for humans, animals and plants. Every year many people die from this natural disaster, and animals and plants will be swept away. The word "tsunami" is taken from the Japanese language, the country has suffered these every year. However, because it has been through many times, the people and the government here have taken measures to restore the devastated situation after the tsunami. In addition, tsunamis are often accompanied by volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.
Today, in Vietnam often encountered many natural disasters such as floods, droughts, hail, tropical storms and other natural disasters. These are the most frightening things people are concerned about. Tropical storms often occur and cause most harm. It usually occurs in the rainy season and occurs most often in central Vietnam and coastal areas. It causes a lot of damage to people and property. First, killing people, livestock and poultry by the flood. Second, crop loss due to flooding. Humans become homeless and lose all their possessions. and many other damages caused by the storm. To prevent and fight against tropical storms, before it takes place, we must make preventive dikes, prepare adequate tools and food and other necessities. When storms occur, people must find safe shelters not to go out. After that, we have to overcome what hurricanes destroy, such as rebuilding houses, and many other things, if we live in that area, we should plant trees, protect the environment and many other practical things.

Dear Annna ..
This is Elisa , how are you ? I hope you well
Floods are among the deadliest catastrophes in the world. The damage it causes is not only property but also people. Vietnam is one of the countries in the world severely affected, especially in Central Vietnam.
The floods destroyed land, rice fields, houses, and damaged facilities in Central Vietnam. Although the Government and people always support and accompany people suffering from natural disasters, it will take a long time before they can restore their normal lives, floods will return. This year, with the floating house regime, many households completely overcome the flood, this is definitely a project that needs to be deployed and developed in our country. I hope that in the future Vietnam will have a more effective solution and that the people of the central region will have a better life.
Best wishes
Elissa
Natural disasters are one of the biggest problems that people have to face to face nowadays. So does Vietnam, we are against natural disasters. The most common natural disasters in Vietnam are hurricanes. The hurricanes can cause damage to houses and peoples. A lot of people lost homes so they don’t have a place to live in. Not only that, they also suffer the pain of losing their relatives. According to statistics, the hurricanes in Vietnam made about 230 people die and a lot of people can’t be found. What is more dangerous than it causes the flood. Flooding is also a dangerous natural disaster because it can cause harm like a hurricane... Additionally, it can make the water line polluted and this is one of the causes that make people and animals sick. From these arguments, we can know about the harmfulness of hurricanes and floods so I will tell you some ways to prevent the hurricanes and floods. First, you should always update the news about the hurricanes. Second, you should prepare essential things such as water, food, clothes, medicines, first-aid-kits,...Third, we should reinforce our house and always be ready to evacuate. In conclusion, I can say that natural disasters are extremely dangerous, but we can prevent them by doing what I say.
Earthquake is a natural calamity which has power to destroy human lives in few seconds. It is lonely responsible for the huge damage to living and non-living beings. Earlier, people were unaware of the reasons of earthquake occurrence and the extent of damage. They believed that earthquake occur whenever mother earth become angry with them. It was Aristotle (a great Greek philosopher) who made people aware that earthquake occur because of some physical factors. He told that, some parts of land moves whenever air compressed within the arch escapes which is called as volcanic activity. Earthquake waves cause movement in the surrounding areas because of air pressure and imbalance.
Another reason of earthquake occurrence is isosta adjustment. Earth surface contains some raised and depressed blocks which make balance of earth surface however the balance disturb when blocks moves revolving on units of axis. Raised blocks get down and cause imbalance on the earth surface which inturn cause earthquake. Generally, it occurs in the volcano prime areas, under the feet of mountains and hills. However, it is not sure that earthquakes do not occur in other places. Earthquake may occur anytime in any part of the world. Some of the earthquakes become weak however some of them become very strong with huge force which may shake the earth suface far away from the centre point.
Earthquakes with huge intensity become really dangerous and cause severe damage. According to the scientific study with the help of Seismograph, there are some secondary waves and tertiary waves in the earthquake. There are various measurement scales which can accurately measure the intensity of earthquake such as Mercall’s scale, Richter scale, moment magnitude scale, etc. Himalaya zone, the Ganga, Deccan Plateau, the Brahmaputra valleys, etc are the earthquake prone areas in India. Kutch (Gujarat, India) earthquake of the year 1819 was so massive (calculated 8 on Richeter Scale) and affected a huge area (around 5000 square kilometers depressed by 15 feet and 1500 square kilometers raised by 50 feet). More than 10000 people were killed in the earthquake event of Latur and Osmanabad districts of Maharashtra on 30th of September in 1993.
Earthquake is the result of release of elas energy after forceful tectonic plate movements. Elas energy released in the form of seismic or shock waves which travels for a long distance outwards in all directions from the centre point (a place of maximum destruction). High-rise buildings and ancient structures of the cities ( Delhi) can be badly affected by the seismic force of earthquake.
