Vào khoảng cuối thập niên 1970, ngành công nghiệp điện ảnh quốc tế đã quyết định rằng phim hoạt hình chỉ dành cho trẻ em.

Nhưng ngay sau đó, một hoặc hai người quản lý đã có một số ý tưởng mới ban đầu. Họ chứng minh rằng việc làm ra những bộ phim mà cả người lớn và trẻ em có thể chia sẻ niềm vui là có thể thực hiện được.

Tuy nhiên, không phải tất cả phim phim hoạt hình đều thành công. Ví dụ như bộ phim cái vạc màu đen thất bại chủ yếu bởi nó quá đáng sợ đối với trẻ em và quá trẻ con đối với người lớn. Những người quản lý đã học được từ sai lầm này, và các công ty sản xuất phim lại một lần nữa bắt đầu để kiếm một khoản tiền lớn.
