The Temple of Litterature is famous for its long teaching history. It was built in 1070 by King Ly Thanh Long. In 1076, Vietnam's first university was built inside the temple. At first. only rich people could study there, but in 1253, the university was opened to anyone who could pass a difficult ..exam... . The universite closed in 1802 aften over 700 years of teaching.
