I sometimes get very frustrated with the technology of our times and end up hitting my computer. However, while talking with some fellow senior citizens reminding them of the good things we have today that weren't available when we were young. We can remember life before refrigerators and the time when women had to cook - that's to say really cooked - three meals a day, every day. We can remember when, apart from fish and chips, there was no take-out food or delivery. During those times, the only way to leave England for most people was by boat.
Before World War II people died of things that today are now curable. We have excellent hearing aids now instead of the old ear trumpets. Banks used to close at 3:00 and there were no automatic tellers. And calling a foreign country was a difficult thing to do.
Of course, I'm not saying that everything's marvelous these days, but as we struggle with the modern problems we face, we can at least be content remembering how annoying the old days sometimes were.
