I . First step

Step 1 : Leave the position with the rattlesnake. If the snake feels threatened, it can bite again. Therefore, the snake-bitten person should stay away from the snake's attack range. Stay away from snakes at least 6 meters.

Step 2 : Receiving medical assistance. Finding the fastest possible medical assistance is very important. Most hospitals have snake venom-resistant serum, and most treatment efforts before going to the hospital do not help much. If you are in an area where you can call 115, it is your best option. If not, seek help to get to the nearest hospital for you or someone with the snake bite.
Even if you're not sure if you're bitten by a rattlesnake, you still need to go to the hospital right away. It would be better if you were in the hospital when symptoms of venom infiltration began to appear.

Step 3 : DO NOT lift the area bitten by the snake above the heart. If you raise the area above the heart, the blood containing the venom from the bite will move to the heart faster.

Step 4 : Keep your body motionless. If possible, avoid moving until you receive support. Moving will increase the speed of blood circulation, causing venom to spread in the body faster. Therefore, you or someone with a snake bite should avoid moving if possible.
Of course, if you are alone, seek help that is more important than keeping your body immobile.

II . Handle the bite

Step 1 : Remove clothing and jewelry. Snake skin can swell quickly, so cut or remove clothes near the bite. At the same time, remove all jewelry in this area. If you do not remove it before the bite is swollen, the objects may clog the blood vessels, and the jewelry must be removed.

Step 2 : Leave the wound to bleed. Let the bite bleed freely for about thirty seconds. This process will help some venom flow out of the wound.

Step 3 : Use suction pump device. It is better to try to suck the venom out, but only if you have a special tool. The suction device often comes with instructions for use, but basically you put the straw on the bite to suck the venom out.

Step 4 : Put a clean bandage over the wound. Do not remove wound wash water, as it can wash snake venom on your skin. Health professionals can use traces on your skin to support the treatment process, by determining which bite you are bitten by.

Step 5 : Brace or bandage. A brace or bandage will help keep the wound inactive, limiting blood circulation at the bite. Since then, the venom has not spread.
To make a bandage for the arm, create a triangle from the fabric by folding or cutting the cloth. Roll a triangle tape around your arm, place your elbow in the middle. Your hand or a snake-bitten person should fold at the elbow to fit the bandage. Tie the ends of the tape around your shoulders. Place your hand outwards to create a fulcrum for the triangle.
Find items to support your hands, such as sticks, newspaper rolls, or even cloth rolls. Place the brace on the arm length, try to connect the joint at the top and bottom of the wound. Tie the brace to the arm with anything you have, from the waist to the tape or the cloth. Do not tie the injured area but tied to its edges. If the wound is too swollen, you need to reduce the pressure on the brace.

III . Chờ đợi Trợ giúp

Step 1
Comforting injured people. Talk to her. Ask her questions to stop paying attention to the bite. Anxiety and panic can increase heart rate and make venom easily spread.
If you are a snake bite, try to stay calm. Breathe slowly and deeply to calm down.
You can also call the Anti-Poison Center while you wait

Step 2

Observe swelling and discoloration. The easiest way to identify venomous snakebites is to observe swelling at the bite site. Bites can also change color.
Another manifestation of venomous snakebites is that there is only one or two stain marks instead of a stain, meaning that the teeth are smaller.
In addition, dizziness, pain in the bitten area, blurred vision and stinging sensations in other areas of the body are signs of being bitten by venomous snakes, along with excessive sweating.
Step 3
Check for signs of shock. A symptom is a lost person. Other symptoms include heart palpitations, shortness of breath, nausea and dizziness. At the same time, the pupil of the bitten person will also expand.
If a person begins to enter a shocking period, place the person on his or her back and raise his or her feet to at least 30 cm. At the same time, help them keep their body warm.
Conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation if the person bitten by the snake does not have signs of life such as breathing, coughing or movement.
Step 4
Use alcohol or caffeine. These substances can make your body absorb the venom faster. Therefore, do not use these drinks after being bitten by rattlesnakes.

IV . Knowing Things to Avoid

Step 1
Do not slit the wound. The popular view is that slitting the wound can help release venom. However, tests prove that this method has no effect and you can become infected if using a dirty knife.
Step 2
Do not use your mouth to suck the wound. When sucking wounds with your mouth, you transfer venom into your mouth. In addition, your mouth is a bacterium, so you can infect the bite with bacteria from your mouth.
In fact, within 15 minutes, the venom has entered the lymphatic system, so it is pointless to smoke venom after this point.
Step 3
Do not use the syrup. The syrup prevents blood from circulating to your hands. This advice was given in the past, given that it will help prevent venom from spreading to the whole body. However, this is often more harmful than beneficial.
Step 4
Do not apply ice or immerse the wound in water. It is very important to maintain undamaged tissues for as long as possible. Using ice or water does not support this because it reduces blood circulation.
Step 5
Do not urinate on the bite. This idea is as silly as its name, a myth that peeing on a bite will help neutralize toxins. Urine does not help the bite and you should take the time to go to the hospital rather than doing it.
Step 6
Do not give any snake-bitten person anything to eat or drink while waiting for care. Including medicine and alcohol. You need to keep your metabolic rate slow.

If someone is bitten by a snake, you won’t know if it’s a dry bite or a venomous bite – so to be safe, always treat any bite as a venomous bite.

Dry bites, whereby no venom is released, are painful and cause localised redness and swelling.

If the bite is venomous, other symptoms may include a stinging or burning sensation on the skin and feelings of nausea, dizziness, anxiousness and confusion. In severe cases, the bite may result in paralysis or coma.

Only a handful of people die from a venomous snake bite in Australia each year. Knowing what to do if bitten by a snake and giving proper first aid is essential in keeping those numbers down and reducing them even further.

Snake venom is carried in the lymphatic system and not in the blood stream, as many mistakenly believe. That’s why the main aim of snake bite first aid is to reduce lymphatic flow by applying continuous firm pressure over the affected limb. This is known as the Pressure Immobilisation Technique (PIT).

Immediate first aid should be applied to any snake bite victim. Follow the steps below and don’t forget to read the DON’Ts printed in red at the bottom of our guide.

First aid is the assistance given to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or to promote recovery. It includes initial intervention in a serious condition prior to professional medical help being available, such as performing CPR while awaiting an ambulance, as well as the complete treatment of minor conditions, such as applying a plaster to a cut. First aid is generally performed by the layperson, with many people trained in providing basic levels of first aid, and others willing to do so from acquired knowledge. Mental health first aid is an extension of the concept of first aid to cover mental health.

There are many situations which may require first aid, and many countries have legislation, regulation, or guidance which specifies a minimum level of first aid provision in certain circumstances. This can include specific training or equipment to be available in the workplace (such as an Automated External Defibrillator), the provision of specialist first aid cover at public gatherings, or mandatory first aid training within schools. First aid, however, does not necessarily require any particular equipment or prior knowledge, and can involve improvisation with materials available at the time, often by untrained persons.

First aid can be performed on all mammals, although this article relates to the care of human patients.
