My last holiday

My last holiday was a five-day trip to Prague in the Czech Republic. I know Prague well because I lived there when I was at university, more than ten years ago.

Instead of staying in a hotel, I stayed with one of my old friends. It was so much fun, and a little bit my old life. I wanted to do all the same things I did in my university days, so I visited the university. It has changed a lot and looks more modern. I also went to the supermarket near my old house. I loved seeing all the different foods. I was really happy to find my favourite cheese and chocolate biscuits but they were a bit more expensive than I remember!

We did some touristy things too. We walked up beautiful Petrin Hill and around the castle. The views of the city are amazing up there. We walked across the historic Charles Bridge. My friend's flat is very near the TV Tower so we saw the famous baby statues climbing up it. Those things haven't changed, of course.

Summer, is a very interesting time, because I will have a long vacation instead of going to class every morning. I still remember when I was 5 years old, I was able to go back to my hometown with my sister. It was my most memorable summer. That summer, when I was about to enter 1st grade, my mother and sister sent me to my hometown to play. My maternal hometown is in Nghe An, while my maternal hometown is in Hai Phong, about 300 km apart. So almost every time I visit my grandmother's hometown, I can only go with my mother or father, but never with my sister. So that time I was very excited. The two sisters were allowed to stay in their hometown for a month. The house is very beautiful with a luxuriant fruit garden. Grandma's small house is nestled among the green groves. Every day, I will go to the garden with my grandmother to pick mangoes, sapodillas, etc. to climb all kinds of things. That summer I also made many new friends. At first, when I spoke with Nghe An accent, you didn't quite understand. But gradually we also understood each other's intentions… The children's play echoed throughout the garden. Grandma's house is so much fun. Then the summer vacation ended, the two sisters had to say goodbye to their grandmother, goodbye to their new friends who returned to study. Outside is very sad. I see grandma crying. That image is etched in my heart
