Đây là nơi cung cấp các nguồn tài nguyên thiên nhiên như rừng, khoáng sản, động thực vật quý hiếm, ... và các yếu tố vật chất nhân tạo có quan hệ mật thiết với nhau, phục vụ và tác động đến sự sống và các quá trình. sự tồn tại và phát triển của đời sống con người. Nhưng đây cũng là nơi chứa các chất thải do con người tạo ra.
