In my free time, I love to relax myself by listening to music and watching my favorite films. I study all day, so after 7PM is the only time that I can use for myself. I have a smart phone, so I can download a lot of songs from the Internet for free, and I usually hear them with my headphone. Sometimes when my parents are not at home, I turn on the loudspeakers to have the best experience with music, but most of the time I just listen in silence. Besides music, movies are my biggest love. When I am not listening to the songs, I turn on my computer and watch some of the lasted movies on the websites. Since most of the best films are from Europe and America, this is also a way for me to improve my English skills. I usually do not use the subtitle, and I try to hear directly what the actors and actresses are saying. My parents want me to read books to even learn in my free time, but I think I should do what I actually love to make myself comfortable.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is an important traditional holiday in my country. Mid-Autumn festival is celebrated not only in Vietnam but also in some other parts of Asia as well, such as China, Japan or Korea. And it is often celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with full moon at night. In the past, on this day the moon was brightest and roundest which represented the family reunion or gatherings. Therefore, families and friends often came together or harvested crops for the festival. Nowadays, Mid Autumn Festival is mainly for young children in Vietnam to enjoy the best time of the year. But not only can children celebrate this day but also adults can, adults who wish to have a chance to remind their their childhood and feel young again.
Hello everyone, my name is Nii. Today, I would like to tell you about Tet, also known as the Lunar New Year festival, which is the biggest traditional festival in Viet Nam. It takes place from the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar until at least the third day. Although occurring in a short period of time, it is believed to be the most important and popular holiday in Vietnam. There are many special food is made so as to prepare for Tet meal such as sticky square cake, Vietnamese sausage, sticky rice, and jam. The food is thought to reflect Vietnam’s habits and customs as well as Vietnamese’s lifestyle. Besides, the meal has other dishes like fish, vegetables to show the hope for a successful and prosperous new year. In terms of customs, children’s receiving red envelop from the elder, visiting relative’s houses, and going to church are popular activities. Giving lucky money is thought to bring children hope and health. Church is the symbol of peace; therefore, individuals go there and pray for a successive year. Traditionally, the house is designed with peach flower in the North and Ochna integerrima in the south part of Vietnam. Besides, the house as well as the town are clear, decorative, and beautiful as all are ready to start a new year. People have a cozy atmosphere and enjoy a joyful time with their family members. It’s high time for people living in different parts of the country to gather and spending time together. Tet is a chance for one to come back home after many stress and pressure of studying and working environment. Tet is not simply a holiday, it is a culture and habit of Vietnamese since its deep meaning is sacred and important. All in all, Tet includes not only joy but also a long-standing event in people’s souls as it helps one grow up through experience. And that's all about the Lunar New Year festival in Vietnam. My secondary school is a place that bears all the hallmarks of my childhood memories. It is placed in the center of my district. Surrounded by a paddy-field, it enjoys lined- trees and colorful garden, which creates a wonderful view. Moreover, this school was designed with a large- scale plan. It is a 2 storied building of u shape with capacity of 1000 people and it was invested heavily in infrastructures with well- equipped classrooms. In a good environment, students are given many precious chances to discover and develop their inner talents. Besides modern facilities, this school is also well- known for enthusias and qualified teachers who are always dedicated and devoted themselves to teaching career. Today I’m going to tell you about the xoe dance, a traditional dance of the Thai ethnic group in VietNam. Thai people have followed this spiritual tradition for generations.
The xoe dance expresses people’s working life and wishes for a happy and wealthy life. It is performed in both public and private gatherings such as celebrations, festivals or family reunions.
The xoe dance has more than 30 forms based on the first six ancient forms. The most popular form is the xoe vong or ‘circle dance’ because it expresses social unity. People, young or old alike, join hands to make a circle around the fire and dance to the music. Besides the circle dance, there are dances with conical hats, paper fans or scarves.
Old people say they shouldn’t break with this tradition because it reflects Thai culture and lifestyle. As a Thai folk song goes, without the xoe dance, the rice won’t grow and people won’t get married.
Ao Dai is the a traditional dress of Vietnam. It is one of the symbols of Vietnam. When one hears about Vietnam, the word “Ao Dai” will most probably be mentioned.
Early versions of the “Ao Dai” date back to 1744 when Lord Vu Vuong of the Nguyen Dynasty decided both men and women should wear an outfit of pants and a gown that buttoned down the front. What wasn’t, until 1930 that “Ao Dai”appear similar to what it looks today. Now, Men wear it less, generally only on ceremonial occasions such as weddings or funerals. During the 1950s two tailors in Saigon started producing “Ao Dai” with raglan sleeves. This creates a diagonal seam running from the collar to the underarm. This style is still preferred today“Ao Dai” is made individually to fit each customer’s shape to create the most flattering look.
Its body-hugging top flows over wide trousers that brush the floor.The pants should reach the soles of the feet and flow along the floor. Comfortability is always taken into account for fashions and beauty. Tailors must be skills so as to ensure the wearer has freedom of movement. Despite it being a long robe, “Ao Dai” is cool to wear. Synthe or silk fabrics are best to use because they do not crush and dry quickly. For this reason “Ao Dai” is a pracal uniform for daily wear.
The color can show the wearer’s age and status. Young girls wear pure white, fully-lined outfits symbolizing their purity. Older but unmarried girls move into soft pastel shades. Only married women wear “Ao Dai” in strong, rich colors, usually over white or black pants. “Ao Dai”is rarely seen in places where manual work is praced. In the nineties the Ao dai become popular again. It has become standard and common attire for female students as well and staff at offices and hotels.
Ao dai nowadays is very popular with different designs and colors. “Ao Dai”has become the most preferred dress for formal occasions and traditionally ceremonies. Today, “Ao Dai” has been modified. Its length is cut shorter usually just below the knee. Variations in the neck, between boat and mandarin style, are common. Access to new fabrics have made for some interesting design most visitors to Vietnam admire local tailors’ skills when making ao dai. It is hard to think of a more elegant, demure and charming outfit, that suits Vietnamese women of different ages, than Ao Dai.

In my free time, I love reading books. My favorite time to read is in the evening, especially after dinner, and I usually read for about an hour every day.
