In the modern world, people depend on energy to power their everyday lives. A wide range of power-run devices and modern conveniences (1) are taken for granted, and although it may seem that we will not be in danger of living without those conveniences, the fact is that many supplies of energy are running out rapidly. Scientists are constantly (2) searching for new sources of energy to keep modern society running. Whether future populations will continue to enjoy the benefits of abundant energy will depend (3) on the success of this search. Coal, oil and natural gas are now being used widely. (4) However, not only are supplies of , these supplies are limited, and they are a major source of pollution. Therefore, the existing alternative energy sources must be improved or futher explored and developed. These include nuclear, water, solar, and wind power, as well as energy from new, (5) nonpolluting types of fuels types of fuels. Each of these, however, has advantages and disadvantages.

Almost all our energy comes from oil, coal, and natural gas. We call them fossil fuels. The earth’s fossil fuels are running out. What will happen when there is no coal, oil and gas on earth?
Scientists are trying to find and use other alternative sources of energy. We can use energy from the sun, the wind, and the water.
Solar energy is unlimited. The sun supplies all the energy used to grow plants, to evaporate water for rain, and to maintain the temperature of the planet. All are necessary for human life. If we are able to collect solar energy, we will be sure to have this abundant source of power.

Our non-renewable energy sources such as coal, oil, and natural gas will (1) _______run___ out of in the future. That's the (2) ____reason______ why we are looking for alternative sources of (3) _______energy___ which are cheap, clean and effective. These (4) ____kinds______ of energy will not cause (5) _____pollution_____ or waste natural resources. (6) _____Renewable_____ power is one of them. It's currently the cheapest source of large-scale renewable energy.
Most wind energy is produced from turbines that have three 60-meter-long blades. The wind spins the blades, which turn a shaft connected to a generator that produces (7) ____electricity______. Now, mass production and technology advances are (8) ______made____ turbines cheaper. In 2000, cumulative wind capacity (9) ____of ______the world was 17,000 megawatts. Fifteen years later, this number increased sharply to 430,000 megawatts. It is predicted that with this pace of growth, (10) in 2050 one third of the world's electricity needs will be fulfilled by wind power.
1. Can natural resources be used up someday?
=> Yes, they can.
2. What should we do if we don’t want the natural resources to run out of?
=> We should use them economically and try to find out alternative sources of power
3. Why don’t people prefer using nuclear power?
=> Because it is very dangerous.
4. What does the radioactivity cause for young people?
=> It causes cancer and may badly affect the future generations.
5. What will you do to protect your environment?
=> I will use natural resources as economically as possible.
Fossil fuel is the most common source of energy today, but it is not considered clean energy. There are various other sources of alternative energy that must be incorporated if the next generations are expected to have energy. Water, wind, the internal heat of the earth, and the sun are all being harnessed to create energy. Geothermal energy and solar energy are more common. Homes are being heated and cooled, cars are being driven, and electricity is used all from these various alternative sources of energy. All are examples of clean energy, which is better for the environment because it does not cause pollution.

1. Non - renewable sources are being used up. T
2. Many poor people in developing countries do not have little electricity. F
3. Biogas is a new source of energy available for poor people. T
4. Biogas creates a lot of smoke. F
5. The new energy source is not costly T
Energy is fundamental to human beings. Many poor people in developing countries do not have modern sources of energy like electricity or natural gas, with which their life can be improved.
People who live in mountainous areas have to gather wood for fuel. This takes a lot of time. For many people living in rural areas, biogas is the largest energy resource available. The main use of biogas is for cooking and heating, but it can also provide energy for public transport. As biogas is smoke-free, it helps solve the problem of indoor air pollution. Moreover, it’s made from plant waste and animal manure. They cost almost nothing.
The tendency to use renewable energy sources in developing countries is on the increase as non-renewable ones are running outệIn the future, the wind and the sun will be used as the most important environmentally friendly energy sources.
