Hello everybody. I love volunteer work so I decided to make a plan for this summer. I have ever taken part in volunteer work. It's very interesting. I have feel happy when I help elderly people, street children ... They are very poor and don't have food, clothes. I help the elderly cross the road, bring heavy bag. I cook meals for homeless people, make blankets for children who are very ill. Not only me do volunteer work, people do too. People donate blood, talk to sing for the elderly at a nursing home, ... I think have ways for our community but don't require spending money, example, give clothes for the poor, tutor a younger child or provide homework help before or after school, cook meals for the elderly at nursing home and homeless people. If a person do a small thing, our community will be better and beautifully. I love volunteer work very much.

Everything is two-faced like the two faces of a coin, and so is watching TV. Watching TV has advantages.

First, it widens our knowledge. Information on TV is diverse, letting the viewers know upto-date news from all fields of life such as news about politics, socioeconomy, scientific- chnology, etc…

Second, TV serves us as a means of relaxation. Films, plays, music shows on TV are vailable all day. We can enjoy these programs at home whenever we like.

Third, it is a good friend helping us kill time. Whenever we feel bored or do not know what to do. Simply turn on your TV set and you will surely feel OK soon. On the other hand, watching TV also has some disadvantages. Bad contents such as violent films, sexual exposures on the screen, and other sensitive topics may dangerously affect children. In addition, Watching TV too much or regularly also takes us much time and badly affects our health, especially our eyes.

Finally, we have to pay some extra money for electricity consumption, too. In short, watching TV, which may be good or bad, depends on the way we use TV to serve our life.

The zoo is an artificial forest created by man. Though there are few trees compared with the natural forest, the animals, birds and other creatures found in the zoo must always remind us of the forest. It is indeed an interesting place to visit.

Even in the natural forest such a variety of animals, birds and other creatures cannot be found as in a big zoo. Animals which are not found in the forests of one country are caught in other parts or the world and brought to the zoo. The lion, for example, is not found in Malaysia; but one may see an African lion in the zoo at Johore Bahru.

Until I visited the zoo at Johore Bahru a few months ago, I had no idea how informative a visit to a zoo might be. Though the zoo at Johore Bahru is not big, I found many kinds of interesting animals and other creatures there. Lions, tigers and other animals were moving about lazily in their cages. Some of the animals appeared to be bored, and they took little interest in the visitors. The monkeys, however, showed their natural agility. Whenever they saw a visitor, they ran towards him and begged for something to eat. I was indeed amused at their behavior. Most of them were caught in Malaysia and their variety was amazing.

Some of the birds too were very interesting to see. Their beautiful feathers fascinated me. Birds are indeed one of the loveliest creations of god. A few birds are larger than many animals.

The lions and the tigers in this zoo were so docile that I could not but treat them as domestic animals like the dog and the cat. I went very close to them, but they showed little interest in me. I then began to think of how the animal or even human spirit could be broken by confinement. Confined to their cages, these animals had become spiritless. Even the sight of food did not see to excite them much.

Then, there was the crocodile with its usual pretence of innocence. It refused to be disturbed. Heaven knows how it might have reacted if a child had fallen into its pit. However, my visit to the zoo had increased my knowledge of animals.

We are now facing the excessively increasing consumption of energy all over the world. It is predicted that global energy consumption will rise nearly sixty percent in the next twenty years. This rise is caused by some factors such as population growth, urbanization, and economic and industrial expansion.
Seeking cheap, clean, effective sources of power, some countries are hopeful of being able to produce part of their electricity with renewable means such as wind or solar power. On a cloudy day in Britain, a solar roof can generate enough electricity for the household to play 140 hours of TV and make 35 cups of tea. One kilowatt of solar energy can save up to a ton of CO2 emissions each year. Solar panels and wind generators help to provide alternative sources of energy for private homes, and they are no longer too expensive. These renewable energy systems can lead to big savings for households in the long run and in Britain the government is providing financial help with the cost of installing them.
In addition to the use of renewable energy sources, human beings now know how to save energy more efficiently. Companies make electrical equipment which is environment-friendly and money-saving. Refrigerators, washing machines, tumble dryers and other home appliances are labeled to help consumers compare the energy efficiency of each model with other appliances in the same category. Households also try to save energy in whatever way. Ordinary light bulbs are replaced with energy-saving bulbs. Having a shower instead of a bath becomes more common. TVs, electric fans and air conditioners are turned off when they are not in use. Those are simple actions but they contribute significantly to the energy saving movement.
In a nutshell, using renewable energy sources and saving energy at home not only saves money but also protects the Earth’s resources.

Halloween is a holiday celebrated on October 31st. The most common colors of the day are orange and black. Halloween comes from the ancient Celtic festival Samhain.

The ancient Celts believed that on October 31st, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the living and the deceased is not clear, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops.

On Halloween, the ancient Celts would place a skeleton by their window to represent the dead. Believing that the head was the most powerful part of the body, containing the spirit and knowledge, the Celts used the "head" of the vegetable to decorate their houses.

On this day people often wear strange clothes as characters in horrible novels or movies to frighten others.

People usually like to dress as ghosts, skeletons, or witches. Now Halloween is an official holiday in almost all European countries.
