The Shoemaker

Bill Bird is a shoemaker who cannot make shoes fast enough for his growing number of customers - and he charges more than £300 for a pair! Customers travel hundreds of kilometers to his London shoe clinic or to his workshop in the countryside to have their feet measured. He makes shoes for people with feet of unusual sizes: large, very small, very broad or very narrow. The shoes are at least as fashionable as those found in ordinary shops.

Mr. Bird says: ‘My problem is that I cannot find skilled workers. Young people all seem to prefer to work with computers these days. We will lose the necessary skills soon because there are fewer and fewer shoemakers nowadays. I am 45, and now I want to teach young people everything I know about making shoes. It’s a good job, and a lot of people want to buy beautiful shoes specially made for them.’

He started in the business 19 years ago and now he employs three other people. His customers pay about £500 for their first pair of shoes. He says: ‘Our customers come because they want comfortable shoes which are exactly the light size.’ Extra pairs of shoes cost between £320 and £450, as it takes one employee a whole week to make just one shoe.

- As the proverb says, "You have a father like a house with a roof." That statement shows the importance and position of a father in the family. For me, my dad's image is always in my mind.

My father is over 40 years old. Dad is a police soldier. It makes me very proud and proud. Dad often had to go on duty and on duty. Dad has a face full of letters, serious eyes. On hot days, Dad came home from work, his face was flushed red, sweat was all over his face and a whole piece of his shirt was wet. I understand that he had to stand guard in the hot sun, so he loved him even more.

Tanned skin, healthy. Even at work-free evenings, Dad sat down to think about the agency's documents. At that time, his father's face was thoughtful, his eyes bright, his bushy eyebrows narrowed. His hair was dotted with silver threads. I know that my father has to take care of work in an office which is hard and difficult, especially very dangerous but he always tries to get the best work done.

Every time he went to work, he often wore his military uniform and his police hat looked very stately. Late at night, a phone call comes in, because the mission is to get up and rush to the road regardless of the weather. My father is not only a brave soldier at the office but also a person who keeps the neighborhoods and also the breadwinner in the family. Although he is busy at work, he does not forget to take care of housework and love his children wholeheartedly.

Dad always checked, mentored the education of sisters. Dad is also very strict in teaching children. However, sometimes Dad is very funny and humorous. Occasionally, Dad would tell jokes to the two sisters who made them laugh out loud. For neighbors, what is the father is always willing to help. Everyone respected and loved their father.

I love my father very much and I am very proud that he is a police soldier because of his homelessness and service. Dad is a strong fulcrum for my family, like the song: "I will make wings for the birds, for you to fly far away."

Strong Relationships Equal Health, Happiness

What will most help you lead a long happy and healthy life? Is it making lots of money? Is it a great job that you enjoy? Perhaps it’s fame. If you ask a young person, many are likely to give you one of those answers. Or possibly all three.

Some cultures put more importance on work and money than others. Americans can be obsessed with their jobs and making money. They might feel the need to make lots of money for education, medical care, homes and cars. But it’s not just about the money. For many Americans, self-worth is linked to our professional success or failure. Many of us spend most of our lives working – sacrificing other activities.

Imagine if we could visit our older selves and ask -- "What would you have done differently to be truly happy?" But we can’t do that. We could learn about what makes people happy, and what does not, by studying people over the course of their lives.

Once there is a boy lived with his mother. They were very poor and had only a bit of land to make a living by growing grain.
One day, the mother went to the market as usual. She asked if the boy want anything. The boy's eyes went wide with delight. He said: "More than anything else, I want a drum!"

But the left over money after the mother bought necessities wasn't enough to buy a drum. The boy wanted a drum so badly, but there was nothing she could do. However, on the way back home, his mother found a fine stick. It was still better than nothing, right? She was smiling badly while she was handing the gift to her son. The boy decided to not disappointed. Instead of that, he thanks his mother, tapped, slapped, banged on every object with his new stick.

Then he saw his neighbor trying to light her smoked stove. Her eyes watered and she coughed so much. The boy, without hesitation, gave the stick to his neighbor. "Here Auntie, use my stick to heat your stove"- he said. When the stove was OK and hot perfectly, she baked him a soft, round roti, a traditional Indian cake.

The boy was looking for a shade place to ẹnjoy the roti when he heard a baby crying. The baby was hungry but her mother had no food. The boy immediately told the mother to feed her baby his roti. The baby ate the warm, delicious cake. The woman insisted the boy to take a large, metal jug as her gratefulness. What a gift! It dinged like a real drum!

He almost didn't saw someone was groaning from a roadside ditch. An old man wearing torn clothes was laying in the dust. The boy ran as quickly as he could to fill the jug with water. The man drink water from the jug and told his story: "I am a trader, but robbers stole my goods." He just had 2 horses, and they were standing by a tree. The boy also gave water to them. He offered that the trader could took his jug to trade. The old man was thankful so he urge the boy to take one of his horse. "It was a rich gift!" the boy thought.

The boy climbed on the horse and rode happily down the streets. He crossed a group of man sitting under a tree. They were beautifully dressed, unfortunately they looked miserable. The boy asked if there is a problem. One young man said: "I'm going to my wedding, where this band will perform. But if I show up on foot, my bride will laugh at me" The boy hopped off the horse and handed the reins to the groom. He thought that he had a whole life without a horse. The young man needed it more than he did! The musicians leaped up and sang. A singer stopped to thank the boy for his kindness. In exchange, he deserved a beautiful drum.

The boy shouted with joy. He tapped the drum the whole way home. His mother came out to see what the noise was. The boy told her about the story of the stick, a roti, a jug, a horse and a drum.

We live in a world of peace without war. The Vietnamese people have gone through painful historical pages and have spent thousands of years developing. And if Vietnam wants to develop like other countries, there must be people who are genius. I have read a newspaper about people in Japan. Japan is one of the most developed countries. Because people there are economic and life characteristics. Japanese people are always afraid of backward against the world so they always exchange knowledge even when they are on the road they also hold books to learn. They are also very good: do not squeeze in line, do not steal. Therefore, if Vietnam wants to develop, then there must be people who have characteristics like Japanese people. And in my opinion people need these traits:
1. Patriotism:
- Patriotism is one of the most important characteristics in people. Because patriotism is a driving force behind our development goals.
2. Have virtue:
- virtue is important in people because it is applied to life and economy. Being an honest person, knowing how to help others, giving in to the economy is not easy.
3. Benefit:
- Do people need to be grateful, kind. If you are honest, people around you will respect you.
4. Honestly:
- The lie is something that is being condemned in today's society. Lies in work and in life will cause others to lose faith in you. So honesty is always good quality. Because honesty will help you succeed and develop the virtues of the Vietnamese people.
5. Humble:
At work, when a project succeeds we will be excited. Success not only brings joy to us but also motivates us to work harder. But not because of that success, I am subjective, always bragging. Therefore, human beings need to have humility, always for their success must be lower than others. Typically, President Ho Chi Minh always has a humble heart that everyone admire.
6. Powerful:
- In addition to success, there is a failure in life. An Australian president said: "Failure is the opportunity to start the success again." Yes, failure helps us to grow. Not because of a failure that you give up. You must always have a strong, energetic spirit.
7. Unity:
- Finally is unity. Unity has been a tradition since the war. Thanks to that unity, the Vietnamese have expelled the enemy, unified the country. Today, that unity is also applied in economics. If the Vietnamese people are united together, they can create a new phenomenon that will bring Vietnam to the top of the world. And no one else is the Vietnamese U23 football team, which has made 90 million Vietnamese people proud of their unity and love of the country.
